Help needed on winter tires

Looking to purchase winters for the family's 428 Xdrive convertible.
Not much luck finding f30 wheels with winter on Craigslist. But did came across many e92 options. One particularly interesting set has 235 front and 255 rear style 189 for the e92. The car currently has 225 35 20 all around oem set up.
Will these be usable for the car and also clear the front M sport brakes?

Thanks in advance.

The best setup for winter is a square setup with lower wheel circumference and higher tire aspect ratio. You will need 18" to clear M brakes so something like 225/45 r18 is a very good and popular configuration. Also the 18" winter tires will be cheaper. Once you get into 19" + and mixed configuration for snow tires you have less options and prices are higher. The BMW 189 wheels will work.

Thank you for the reply. I am hoping to find a square set as well but the used market in my area is very limited.

I use 235/45/18 Michelin X-Ice Xi3. Yes, it is a bit wider than the 225/45/18. Yes, a narrower tire is ideal but that difference is very minuscule when compared to switching from a non-winter compound to a winter compound. I do prefer a bit more sidewall to deal with potholes.

Nothing wrong with 235 width just as you said the narrower 225 is a bit better but only for ice really.

Whereabouts in Canada are you located? Some shops in Toronto give great pricing, and you may feel that the little extra is worth it for brand new wheels and tires.

As others have mentioned, you'll need at least 18s to clear your M Sport brakes. Not all 18s will clear though, it will depend on the size of the barrel as well. When I went to purchase wheels for my winters, they had to try a few sets to get one that would clear the brakes.

What offset did you settle for the rear with the square set up?

I fit 18x8.5 et40 square. 38 would be ideal but I had these wheels already

Just wondering would a 18x9.5 with et40 clear the front bbk? I have found a set with aftermarket wheels with the spec of 18x9.5 et 40 running 245 40 18 winters.

9.5 et40 will not fit the front at all
