epromm coding

I have a chance to buy a 6wa gauge cluster out of a low mileage 2015 328i, to go into my 2014 320i xdrive, I have HU_entry, no nav, Seller has no idea what an epromm is or what it does, so if I buy it can someone help me get the epormm cleared so I can use it in my car?

An EPROM is Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory, but that's not what's needed to use your newer instrument cluster. The KOMBI module and possibly other control modules that will need to be coded in order to recognize the different cluster.

Coding alone will not cut it as the original vehicle's VIN and mileage is still on that cluster. All that data must be cleared before it will allow itself to be coded to the vehicle it's installed to.

I know you have to desolder a chip off the KOMBI and clear it.

That alone would hardly make it worthwhile for the garden-variety owner. Desoldering and resoldering components from a board takes a very steady hand and the right kind of equipment. There's no other way to clear it?
