What exactly is in the MPPSK?
I'm looking to have the MPPSK fitted to my car, but my dealer is completely unwilling to barter on the parts because I'm in Canada and there are no Canadian shops that sell the kit (that I've found). After doing the math on conversion rates, shipping, etc I can save nearly $1k if I buy the kit online from the US.
What exactly is in the kit if I order it online? A large part of the upgrade is software, so am I likely to have the dealer refuse to that portion if I don't buy the kit through them? Is $1k really worth the hassle and potential warranty woes? |

correct me if i'm wrong but the MPPSK can only be done at the dealer since they need to update their ecu with their factory "tune" or maybe some shop can do this but i highly doubt it...

Why take a chance on the warranty if you decided to go with after market upgrade? Get the MPPKS and order it online.

"The BMW M Performance Power kit now comes bundled with a higher flowing, valve controlled exhaust for maximum performance and exhilaration! The BMW M Performance Power Kit features engine tuning software and an electronically controlled valve exhaust system that is actuated in Sport/Sport+ modes via the driving experience control button." A dealer shouldn't refuse to install actual BMW authorized parts to the car. But you probably want to make sure they're not going to be a A-hole about it if you acquire them through a different source, and find out what they're going to charge just for installation to compare. Also note this about warranty. "*Original BMW accessories that are installed on/in the vehicle will carry the full New Vehicle Limited Warranty if they were installed prior to the delivery to the client. If the installation is made after the retail sale of the vehicle, the accessory will be warranted for the balance of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period, or two years from its date of installation, whichever is greater"

There is no software in the kit.
There is a voucher that gives the dealer a code to send to BMW that then authorizes it and allows the cars ECU to be upgraded. Dont know if a voucher bought in the USA will work through a Canadian dealer. My guess is not since BMW Canada have to carry the warranty and will not do so for something it has not sold

I have contacted two different dealers now about getting the mppsk (340i xdrive) and neither had any idea what I was talking about. I had to explain what it was and walk them through looking it up online. It is amazing that BMW dealers are so unaware of what they sell. I was ready to get the kit but I need to find a dealer in the CT area that has at least SOME experience with installing it, I don't want to be the guinea pig, LOL

Strange that if you use the BMW USA website to "build your own", you can check the option for the MPPSK, but it won't register in the summary. No matter how many times you check the box, it still doesn't show up in the list of packages and options.

To answer your original question, the MPPK (M Performance Power Kit, though not sure what the "S" is in your question - maybe the 2015+ cars come with a kit that's more 'enhanced') includes: "engine tuning software" (according to BMW), a replacement air intake, an "M Performance" engine cover, and rocker panel decals (which say "M Performance") |

I bought a kit from Morristown BMW for $1250 and my local dealer charged $500 to the installation.

I would be very carefull buying a USA MPPSK and importing it to Canada and expecting a Canadian Dealer to install or provide Warranty coverage, I highly doubt that will happen. Here is the MPPSK thread in case some of you have not seen it. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1304356

This is a BMW part, so I'm not sure what you mean by "there are no Canadian shops that sell the part".
The MPPK can be bought at any BMW parts counter. It consists of a full back exhaust system and engine tune. You can't just buy and DIY install. Only BMW will re-flash with their tune. And you need the new tune to control the diverter valves on the exhaust. |

In Canada, the MPPSK equivalent is the Mperfomance Pack II.
Had this installed at port for my 440i. The package appears to the be new version of the MPE without the straight midpipe and the tune- gauges show 400hp. This seems to be only available for the b58 as well. It doesnt sound as good as the videos for MPPSK b58's but I havent reached break in point yet so ill update on how it develops. |

Thanks all else to replied, most are correct that I'm want to get the MPPSK which is for the B58 engine (_40i models) It includes the MPE (or an exhaust very similar) as well as software power improvements. My reservation was that if I bought the kit elsewhere and took it to the dealer they'd install the exhaust and then say they were done. If the kit comes with a voucher they plugin to get the coding, then that would be part of the install. |

Alright I retract my statements earlier.
Apparently my dealer used the wrong parts, in fact they just used a MPE axle-back exhaust and that was it. I talked to BMW NA and another BMW dealer and they clarified that Mperformance pack II is indeed the same as MPPSK which is a tune, full cat-back exhaust with special muffler (with pipes running in and out the sides) and flaps that work with the drive mode you are in, tied to the ECU. This should also include the tune with a mpowerkit sticker in the engine bay as well (no mperfomance engine cover on the B58). In Canada this package is $2800.00 When ordering your package make sure they get it right. .seems there is alot of confusion of the parts used in this package. Im hoping my dealer makes things right and switches out the parts and adds whats necessary. Would BMW NA be able to help on this as an alternative if the dealer isnt working with me?
