DIY: RiXst3r Gauge Pod

Step 1: Put a tee in the vacuum line going to the diverter valves. I put mine before they split but you can put it on either diverter valve as well. Once you put the Tee insert the thin line that goes to the gauge. Put zip-ties on both...

Step 4: Pop open the cover on the side of the dash, you should see it when you open the door. This will show you where to run the line that goes to the gauge...

Step 5: Use a piece of wire and run from the top of the dash down through the side part of the dash. Connect the small line with a piece of tape and fish it back up to the top of the dash. (no pics, sorry)

Step 6: Take out the center console so you can access the cigarette lighter. To do this pry the back end up and then pull up with your hands. You will need to remove the shifter, to do this put it in neutral and pull strait up. Also, disconnect the wires that are connected to the console so you can pull it up all the way..

Step 7: Please keep in mind that my wiring is DIFFERENT then your will be if you purchase the whole kit from RiXst3r. Suffice it to say you connect the wiring to the cigarette lighter and run in under the radio and then towards the driver side door...

I hope this will help with the installation of RiXst3r Gauge pod. Please let me know if this was unclear or if I need to edit something...

What if you had the Navi control? How does the knob comes loose anyway? I see you don't have the Navi knob, so anyone that has taken off that knob, can you please state how its done?

I would imagine it is just another wire that you would unplug from the bottom. It would be similar to what I showed in step 6 when I removed the ones from the shifter....

the navi knob just comes up with the rest of the console, no need to remove it...

I am including very precise printed instructions with the pod that are close to this, with a few minor changes...

thanks again for the DIY!!

I don't understand how you routed the vac through the dash. It doesn't get kinked?

Could you post some details on how to hide the wiring/vac line?

I know about the panel on the side of the dash, but is there a hole somewhere, where the line are coming out of?

To run the vac line throught the dash you just use a piece of wire and fish it from the top of the dash through that side piece you opened in step 4. Then tape them together and run the vac line upto the top of the dash...

The line is coming through the firewall on step 2. It is the same grommet that the majority of other wires come through.

The gauge pod itself hide the wires and line from the back of the gauge. To hide the rest you just put the covers back on that you took off in step 2 and 4.

Please read the DIY throughly before asking questions. I doubt mean any offense by that but they are answered above....

I don't have my pod yet, but have already installed my mech gauge there. It would be easier to hook up the vac line first to the gauge then run it through the dash and out to the engine compartment. I did it the way e90 explained and I found it easier to remove the A-pillar to get the vac line and wires up to the gauge instead of using a wire or hanger because both kept getting caught. After doing it this way I thought it would be so much easier to do it backwards.

I would suggest shoving 90% of the vacuum tube through the wire bundle extra hole in the firewall from the inside of the car, and then it almost always just POPS up into the engine bay... no hanger require...

Great DIY, can we get more info on the wiring?

I got 4 wires with my gauge:
1- Constant 12V
2- Ignition 12V
3- Lightening
4- Ground

How do you think I should wire them?
BTW wires are too short to reach the Fuse box.
