With the forecast of snow later this week I'm going to order some new rear tyres as they're barely above legal.

I did search this subject a bit but found most threads reverting to recommending MPSS, however Id like to keep with runflats.

Ive currently got Bridgestone S001 but very seriously considering Eagle F1s as a replacement. There's barely any price difference so I'm swayed by the good reviews for the F1's.

Anybody have any experience of both and would recommend one over the other? What sort of milage are people getting from their F1's, I've managed 22k on my bridgestones?

Bridgestone Potenza S001 are summer performance tires (not friendly in snow) while Goodyear Eagle F1 are all season tires (more suitable for light snow). These tires are very different and therefore difficult to compare.

22K miles on Bridgestone Potenza S001 is within the average lifespan. My previous car had the same tires which lasted about 20K miles.

I don't recommend mixing tires, i.e. Bridgestone Potenza S001 in the front and Goodyear Eagle F1 in the back.

For winter weather, a dedicated winter tire / wheel set will serve you much better. Pirelli Sottozero are excellent winter performance tires.

Chances are the car will be left parked up if we do get snow but this seems a good time to get them just in case.
Theres no doubt a dedicated winter tyre would be better but I would rather keep costs to a minimum and save buying a full set.

Any particular reason why you wouldn't recommend mixing tyres? The sellers I've looked at list them both as summer tyres. Ive always known not to mix tread patterns between directional/radial and dedicated tyres like summer/winter but these seemed relatively similar to me.

There are at least a couple of different Eagle F1 tires in the US. Which one are you considering:

There are many discussions about mixing non RFT and RFT tires. In short - not recommended. Mixing front / rear RFT tires from different manufacturers - summer / summer or all-season / all-season may work but still not advisable.

Having driven both Bridgestone Potenza S001 and Pirelli P Zero - both RFT - tires, I would not mix these tires. Their handling characteristics are different. Bridgestone Potenza S001 is harsh, noisy. Pirelli P Zero is not as noisy (perhaps sidewall is engineered differently, stiff - as RFT tire requires it - but still sufficiently different) and in some instances exhibited better grip.

I have done 22500 miles on Bridgestone Potenza S001 & still have a bit to go, i shall be going for 4 Goodyear F1 soon as they are rated highly.
