More info would help. Are you planning to drive it hard? What is the weather like in Malawi in the winter - how cold does it get on average? Rain? Year round tire I assume? How do you prioritize cost, performance, long life, quiet or comfortable ride?

Michelin, Continental and Bridgestone make some good options, but with more info comes a better recommendation.

Malawi Weather is hot during the whole year and temp is 30 to 35 , Winter drops to 15 to 20 degrees in July till Sept. My Car is a daily driver and its a Sport Line , the ride was hard with the Good Year Tyres and also gave me road noise . I do push the car on long journeys and sometimes like to foot it on the highway . I like 10 mins away from work but have a highway to drive it hard when I feel like it.

Our Local Tyre Dealer says I should move to Non RFT Pirelli Nero 225/45/R18

Await your reply.

If you don't want to go all-out summer performance, and are OK with a performance all-season, here are 2 recommendations:
- Continental ExtremeContact DW
- Michelin AS3 Plus

I used to have the Continentals on my prior car (Acura TL) and was pleased with the performance. I have the Michelins now and really like them. Quiet, good in rain (and light snow even) and perform well when you want to have some fun. These ride so much better than the run flats that came on the car. Only downside is that they've worn fairly fast, but that may be my driving style.

I like Continental Extreme Contact DW, which is a summer tire. They also have DWS which is an all-season tire. Quiet, rides good, handles well, high treadwear rating, and less expensive than Michelins (which are of course higher on the performance scale).

Last summer, I put Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position(summer) on 19 inch wheel(403m). When compared to oem continental runflat(all season - 18inch), it is quieter and smoother. From runflat to non-runflat, I definitely feel more rubber and road feel. But there are some reviews Bridgestone will be louder when less than half tire thread left. So far I like this tires. This one was 30% cheaper than Michelin Pilot Super Sport with promotion when I bought.
Consider thread wear rating if you want to keep it longer. For example the useful tread on a tire graded 400 should last twice as long as a tire graded 200.
From oem runflat(rated 400), I could squeeze 34k mi. I expect 15k ~ 20k mi from Bridgestone(280) because I have winter sets separately.

I'm on my second set of these (S-04) and they are fantastic.
Super quiet until the very last day, great grip in dry and wet, not bad in cooler temperatures (to clarify - not to be confused with "cold" temperatures ).

They do wear fast, but in fairness, just "as advertised".

I also came from RF OEM Goodyear, worst tire ever made and I don't say this lightly.

Two great recommendations above.

One last point to clarify. Do you value max performance over treadlife? You can get several tires that will fill all your needs and be an improvement in every catagory over what you have now, but the one choice left to make is stickyness vs longevity.

As for the Perelli's, they would be ok - better than your current, but they are short lived - there are other tires that will perform better and last longer.

Based on your last response it sounds like you push it occasionally, but aren't really looking for max performance. If so, best value would be a Continental DWS 06 followed by Michelin A/S 3+. Yes these are all season, but give good performance and significantly more tread life. If you do want max performance, the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are very good, but last significantly less the either two above.

I suspect all of these options will be a huge improvement in most catagories for you but here are the treadlife ratings, so use your quoted price to compare value. Higher number lasts longer.

Bridgestone Potenza S-04 280
Michelin Pilot Super Sport 300
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ 500
Continental Extremecontact DWS 06 560

Always driven Michelins, I wouldn't really consider anything else at this point. However most of the brands mentioned here, Bridgestone, Continental, etc. are all good choices and will perform very well, just comes down to maybe the prices/sales going on and personal preference.

Hi Guys Thanks to all all of you have helped me on this Tyre Change Forum and I appreciate all your support to giving me all the relevant information . Malawi is a very small country and we don't have many option and brands available such as Bridgestone, Continental, Michelins as BMW is not very famous in Malawi due to not BMW Dealer in Country .

I called up most of the tyre companies for all the tyre brands you suggested but non of them were in stock , my last option was to purchase the Dunlop brand from a Dunlop dealer who had the same size as my RFT on car .

I got the Dunlop SP2050 225/45/R18 fitted all 4 on the car and the drive has completely changed, smoother and no more road noise.
