Does TPMS need re sync

Guys,

Need some quick advice, I got a set of BMW style 281 wheels with 245/45/18 from a friend for winter use today. He had this setup on his 2011-12 650i x drive and recently sold it.

So, I had the new setup installed today on my 2013 335x drive with M sport (8/12 build) and every thing checks out just fine, no rubbing and solid clearance from the breaks etc. The only issue I am having now is the intermittent TPMS malfunction error, it comes on for a bit every time I start driving the car and than goes away on its own. Some times the yellow TPMS warning in the cluster panel continues to flash.

I have tried multiple resets but the Malfunction error keeps on showing up randomly. Do you guys think the TPMS from 2012 650 is just not compatible or does it need some kind of synching with the car since its an F30 335 versus an F12 650i . I understand F30 2103 TPMS is 433Hz, dont know what the 650 came with..

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Your F30 uses different sensors from your friends 6 series. You will need to get the correct ones for your F30.

650 uses different sensors. I just bought a set of 650 wheels to put on my 3 for winter use and they would not work. I sold them on 6 series forum and bought correct sensors for my car.

I have one ebay set not sure manufacture ran for three years now another itm which is from ebay ran for three years and stock bmw sets too. No problem at all with any of them. Or check out classifieds on here I just bought a set two days ago from here and sold two sets within last month.
