E90 Painted Mustaches? Anyone?

I've been looking at the forum for a while now and have seen quite a few people implementing ways to change the grills on the e90. Has anyone tried painting the large chrome "mustaches" that are attached to the hood the same color as the rest of the car while either leaving the rest chrome or replacing it with blacked-out grills? I've tried to find something like that in a picture (yes, I searched), but couldn't find anything. Does anyone have a picture of what that would look like? Any opinions?
