Sonos
Tengo's post got me thinking. I too haven't bought any new tech in a while and have been considering getting a couple of Sonos speakers, a Play:1 for the kitchen and Play:5 for the dining/living room.
Do any members have these speakers? They always seem to get great reviews, are they as good as the reviews say? Any faults with them or any recommendations for alternatives? |

We have Sonos setup, downstairs and upstairs, they easily connect to wifi and are perfectly in sync between up and downstairs when play same songs.
Radio works fine on them, we have Apple Music (and Amazon but don't care for it). We looked at various others, these just had more functionality over others. Yes they will not beat a dedicated hifi, but they a normal hifi does not have same ease of use. Oh and links to my NAS very easily. I really like them. Queue someone complaining about over priced rubbish etc. |

Yeah I have a 1,3 and a 5. Works great around the house. Not as good as separates but for convenience and ease of use can't be beaten in my mind. Highly recommended

I have 2x Play 3s, 2x Play 1s and 2x Connect units hooked to active amplifiers.
They are fantastic, and nothing on the market comes close to the usability. Sound is excellent, but like any music setup depends on the source material. The Trueplay setup allows each unit to "learn" the audio aspects of the room it's in and adjust output to best suit that space. I can control them from my phone/tablet or PC, choose to have the same music in each room (perfectly sync'd) or different music/radio from every speaker depending on the family's desires at the time. Can set them to work as alarm clocks (play whatever music or radio you want, each unit can be set independently or as a group), and a sleep mode to play for x minutes while you nod off. Loads of web radio and music services to choose from, or stream from a home PC/server/iPod/etc as desired. Go to Richer Sounds, sign up for free VIP membership when you purchase, and you'll get a free 6-year guarantee on them. Had mine 2 years so far and NO problems whatsoever. Further advantage is you can buy 1 or 2 units now and add more later if you wish - they will just pair into an existing setup in under a minute. They also use their own wifi channel so don't affect your web surfing, but can be wired for ethernet or powerline networking if you prefer. |

I don't have a NAS and usually play music from iTunes, is it still easy to use this way?
I don't think it'll be long before I use a streaming service, probably Apple Music as they have brainwashed me with all their other tech. |

If it would just support DTS I wouldn't hesitate in buying the Playbar and Sub with 2x1s for the rears.
Since I invested in some 3 of my friends have also bought then and love them. If you like music around the house, they really are fantastic.

I have the playbar, sub and 2 x play 1s as surrounds. Bought the playbar first then added the play 1s, then the sub. Used to have a decent amp and speakers but love the simplicity of the sonos, lack of speaker wires works better in my house, and sound is good enough for music and films, haven't missed DTS. Plan to add more around the house, big fan of the sonos kit now.

Yeah looks like they stopped them.
Basically this was the deal for the twin pack £249 for two play 1's. http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sono...lasgow-2386368 It's worth shopping around to see if any deals are on with John Lewis or Richer Sounds. |

Got a sonos play 1 in the kitchen and a sonos connect in the lounge plugged into my amp. The play 1 is quite something for a tiny little speaker and really packs a punch whilst the connect sounds great through the amp and floorstanding speakers.
Also when playing both of them at the same time there is no delay between them which I find impressive considering the seperatly amp and speakers involved in the lounge. |

I got the play bar as my old tv surround system was getting on a bit and liked the idea of tidying up the tv area. This was quickly followed by 2x play 1's and then the sub.
I had huge reservationsabout spending that much money on the sub but it complements the sound bar perfectly and lifts the sound to a whole new level and would 100% recommend it. |

I do recommend Apple Music if you have Sonos and an IPad etc.
It's great being able to play such a wide range of music. For example downloaded the music from The Halycon TV series, playing throughout the house straightaway Later I may have my stuff playing upstairs and wife has her music downstairs. . |
