Those with alarm installed...
Does your alarm chirp when arming and disarming? Mine just flashes the lights.

Yes, it chirps upon arm and disarm.

No, but why would you want to? I don't like the chirps, but the silent flash is a good confirmation.

greg, just to clarify, if you un-select flash on lock or unlock in idrive under doors confirmation .... Your lights will still flash ???
I'm just trying to verify if this is a bug or not .... Thanks, Adrian |

Disabling light flashing on locking
No, contrary to my previous post (sorry), mine do NOT flash if you uncheck that feature in the settings.

For those of you who installed the alarm yourself, how did you jack up the car to install the siren?
My floor jack won't fit into the "official" plastic jack points under the car. It seems like lifting the car from those points would crack the plastic. |

Alarm install
Yes, you must remove the wheel and the wheel well liner, so you obviously have to jack up the car. Put a short piece of 2X lumber on the jack pad to engage with the plastic part, and it will be fine. Edit: Don't forget to use a jack stand for safety. Here is the alarm module installed with the liner removed, followed by a jacking pic on the other side of the car.

Wow. I am not liking the exterior siren and wiring. Too easy for a thief to just clip. Thoughts?

It all hides behind the wheel well liner panel. You'd have to remove the wheel and liner to get at it, as in my photo above. Siren & tilt sensor is that module at the very top of the wheel well.

MMM. OK. lol. A 1/64" piece of plastic protecting it! LOL. Trust me, a good grip and rip and that shit would come down enough to clip the wires! thanks for the info though....at least there is something hiding it...

If someone wants in the car they'll just bash the window and ignore the alarm. If they want the car, they'll tow or flatbed it.
