Visit to the Jag garage.......wow so disapointed

So time to start looking at new cars and the XF R-Sport was on the lit again to review. I nearly got a V6 R-sport last time when it was the old model. I only went with the 330d in the end as it was cheaper ( or so I thought. The BMW PCP was done on 10k not the 20k I requested)

So a quick visit to look at the XF, XE and F- Pace too.

What really struck me was how the quality of Jags has gone down hill fast. Poor plastics and rough edges everywhere. The boot interior looks unfinished and the main interior just did not feel as special as when i tried it before. The steering wheel and switch gear felt really cheap.

After 30 mins we walked out and didn't bother with any test drives.

Really shocked at how things have changed for the worse. Was sure a Jag was next on the list but looks like I may be staying with BMW again.

Never had any love for Jag interiors, just never been up to the levels of BMW or Audi

I drove an XF Sport a couple of years ago. It was a really dull car to drive - I didn't enjoy it at all.

The XE is just that bit too small, and I'm not sold on the looks of the F-Pace.

Disappointment can make it much easier to stay with a product you get on with.

Garage List
Which jag garage did you go to ??

Went to stratstone in Wolverhampton couple of years ago.

Was really impressed with their aptitude service levels and their ability to get me into a BMW.

100% agree. XE is just too small inside but is perhaps the best of the bunch. Wife hated the F-Pace. The new XF is huge but didn't feel any more premium than the XE.

Droitwich who to be fair are OK. Arranged a lot of test drives last time and very helpful. If BMW had done the financial figures right I would have had the Jag last time.

Went to Stourbridge and Wolverhampton last time and was basically ignored.

Yep Wolverhampton is utterly wank.

It's now part of some other group and still utterly wank.

It's a sign you're doing something wrong when your cars are getting worse looking and your regular buyers are stopping buying. They're aiming for the company car market now. Good luck with that. I'm still on a Jag XF forum and they're all keeping their old cars, they just don't like the new one, exterior a little and interior a lot. My old one wasn't as well put together as an Audi or a BMW but it felt more special somewhow, but not anymore.

I think my old 2011 XF S looks better inside and out than the new one.Name: IMG_0322.JPG

Well considering we are likely to have some form of import duty on cars built in the EU, that hits the majority of current company cars.

This will then make the XE and XF more appealing to fleet managers, especially if there is any impact on company finances post Brexit.

If they don't get a hybrid out soon even a 20% tariff wouldn't make it a cheaper company car than the good hybrids coming out of Europe.

I visited the Jag dealer about a year back and liked the dealer but not the product. Interiors and tech way off the pace. Might get away with that in a sports car, but not daily drivers in the exec market.

Very clever of Jaguar to come up with that strategy 2 years or so before Brexit. Lucky buggers if that's what happens.

Jaguar still aren't even on a lot of company car lists. All the German brands on ours, but no Jag. Bit cheeky really, until very recently they paid us a significant sum to deliver all their spare parts through the night. If they're not even on ours, I wonder how many others don't offer them.

Still think company car buyers are fickle, will go for the next cool thing. The loyal customers they're alienating were on their 6th, 7th or 8th Jags. Now they're saying because the engine and trim choices are so bad they won't get another. You haven't been able to buy an XF with a wafty 3.0 diesel in anything other than super sporty trim since 2015. The middle/old aged loyal customers are in uproar.

Agree, crazy marketing to ask £15k extra for a 3.0D over the 2.0D!!!!
