Capabilities of the dvd/nav system - movies / mp3 ?

I was wondering if the dvd/nav system can play movies or burned mp3s?

In a good mood so I won't babble on about searching ...

Won't play any DVD movie disks whatsoever.

It will play mp3 and windows media files burnt to a dvd data disk. It supports folder structures and mp3's to 256kb/s.

There is a kit you can buy to play movies using the Nav DVD and screen... Don't know if there is a kit for the E92. Did it on my X5

The kit for making your car nav screen display DVD's is made from a company called NAV-TV. Here is a link to the website. http://navtv.com/products_usa.php
They make a integration piece for a 3 series but I'm not sure if it will work with the M3. Your going to have to call them and talk to the tech dept. I am a dealer and have been selling their products for years. It is high quality stuff.

and you say this kit allows the indash Nav DVD drive to be used? Interesting as all of these after market products normally just allow the LCD screen to display external video from a iPod video or external DVD player. The BMW DVD drive has no mpeg2 decoder so is unable to playback any DVD video discs.

In order to switch to the video as well with these after market products you normally require a additional switch.
