Winter is coming to an end in most places in the US, and winter tires are not top of mind for most anymore. They weren't for me either until I came across some great rebates and clearance pricing from my local Discount Tire. I currently have an excellent set of all season tires that still left me with a few scares this winter, making me want to get a dedicated set of winter shoes.

I was able to get a new set of 225/45/18 Blizzak WS80's on clearance for $540. By using a Discount Tire credit card I got another $50 rebate, along with an extra $100 on any "best" category winter tire. Add on $50 for mounting and balancing, and the grand total for a new set of one of the best rated winter tires: $440.

Now that I have some winter tires, maybe my plan will work and the warm weather will come out to play.
