M Performance Gloss Carbon DCT Gear Shift Knob

Hi All,

I'm not a fan of the dry carbon in the M2 and looking for replacement parts to provide a gloss carbon look in the cabin.

Does anyone know if I can replace the standard Chrome DTC Gear knob

with this M Performance Part (61312343709), found this listing on ebay today: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1823035616...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and after a bit of googling it looks like this:

It should be a straight swap.

Anyone tried this yet ?

cheers

MJ

No this will not fit, the M2 doesn't have that DKG button (with the 3 stripes).

And trust me, the dry carbon looks way better than the glossy carbon. I think gloss carbon looks very cheap and fake

Sorry - I'm not worried about the DKG button, simply carbon gear knob insert itself(not the surround), I'm at work at the moment so cannot upload a better image until later tonight.

Make sure you get the BMW OEM one, I bought an AutoTecknic one before fitment is not 100% like the OEM. (I give them 75~80/100, I am picky).

Thanks for the heads up, I'm super picky with way more OCD than's safe for my bank balance. i.e. happy to spend cash just to get things just to my liking .....

Do you guys know the dry carbon fiber interior trim from M2 is actually the fake carbon fiber as it's just stamped plastic to look like carbon just like carbon leather on the E92 M3?

The gloss carbon on M4 is the real genuine carbon fiber and the M2 uses fake plastic carbon stamped weave look due to production cost saving reasons. It is not "dry carbon fiber" as that is referring to Pre-Preg Autoclave Carbon Fiber.

Didn't know that! I didn't think plastic can be stamped... but this is interesting, I have always thought the interior trim is real carbon fiber, just in different finish.

This has not been what others have reported. One source on this site examined a piece and reported it is real carbon fiber weave. I would be very disappointed if in fact the trim is just plastic.
