The new Michelin PS4S has not yet been released in North America. We are expected to start receiving them later this month.
You probably will not see many responses till later this month or next month. Until then, this is the best info we currently have: http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tir...sport-4s.html# http://www.tyrepress.com/2016/10/jan...lot-sport-4-s/ http://www.automobilemag.com/news/mi...t-super-sport/ |

Looks like no size for my 340i Msport w/staggered 18's.
I guess if your car doesn't have at least 19's, then it's not a "performance" car worthy of these tires. Tire sizes have become ridiculously large. No street car needs 20's, not even 19's other than for the "look" of something special. 1/2" sidewalls on the streets where I drive is a recipe for depleting your bank account. For the track I can see the need for narrow and firm sidewall, but for the street, it's cosmetic spending. But then, people will pay hundreds for a pair of "basketball" shoes that they'll never play basketball with. |

I wanted PS4S but didn't want to wait so I ended up getting PSS instead. The bonus was that they are on closeout special and were significantly cheaper!

Same here since I need to replace the Pzero sooner and that is reason why I went with PSS. The ride is much smoother compare with Pzero and lighter.

I'm replacing my stock Bridgestone S001 RFTs with them so they are much lighter, smoother and grippier I am sure. I have never had a set of Michelin tires so I am excited to see what all the hype is about

Really 18" is only less than 8% of the market?

They are saying 19 and 20" make up 92% of the market so 18" would be less than 8%. The remaining 8% would include all other sizes ranging from 13" to 31" LOL. Somehow I doubt these numbers...

I BELIEVE what they were trying to say, and miserably failed, were these sizes covered 92% of the 19" and 20" tire market. |

That would make more sense. I am not sure if they are going to continue making the PSS. They are on closeout everywhere you look which usually means they are being discontinued.

Good news for anyone running 18's. I just placed an order for PS4S via Discount Tire (245/40/18...97Y @ $203ea). Will be replacing my MSS on 2012 328i Sportline.
I was originally seeking PS4's (not PS4S) with little success so the Dallas Discount Tire did some calling around. They told me that the PS4S 18" was technically 'not for sale yet' however they could order them for me from Houston...not sure how that works. They speculated it was due to being one of the larger Michelin dealers so maybe they get first dibs. Regardless, all the press releases I read and posts on this site stated 19" was the smallest size so I was surprised to learn the 4S was being made in 18". Here are my over simplified notes on Michelins, hopefully this helps clarify some confusion: MSS: still the sticky summer tire we all know and love, not the best choice under any less than perfect conditions MS4: mainly a European model although can be ordered in US they are difficult to find MS4S: newest release with best balance between MSS and A/S3+, better in wet and possibly dry (TBD I'll post when I get them) initially may only be able to get them in 19" unless through Discount Tire or a Michelin hookup A/S3+: Still high performing all seasons if you want most performance while being able to handle wintery conditions (liiiight snow). Some people say they are 85%+ of MSS summer performance. I am coming from MSS and liked them but they are done at 11k so I am getting credit on warranty based on 30k I believe. Personally I felt they needed to warm up a bit before they lived up to their potential and any mornings in 50's or below they we very stiff feeling. My average drive distance didn't allow for them to get warm very often. I'd also give a moderate wet performance at best, not great but not awful. Was about to go for A/S3+ but got petty about the aesthetics especially in a 245 width which led me to MS4 or MS4S both of which have a sexier sidewall and are less of a 'SUV' looking tire IMO. I understand why this is unlikely to ever happen, but I really wish there were more objective numbers to go off of that would put all of the tires regardless of classification in the same test under each set of conditions. It would be valuable to see the stopping distances, acceleration, and lateral forces across brands and summer/all seasons to get and idea of the tradeoffs. This would make all the subjective tire posts a lot less...subjective, and emotional. I would personally contribute to let someone make a Youtube video. Closest thing I found was a test comparing different sized wheels on the same vehicle. Also some PS4S numbers from tyrereviews.co.uk Long post over. Glad to see there is a tire in 18" for the in between market of MSS and A/S3+...the MS4S! |
