My eyes have been opened...
Well well...
Yesterday a good friend of mine bought 2 cars - a Mini and a 435 convertible. Both from the same dealer, the Mini was on-site, the 435 at another group premises (not far away). Since my friend had not seen the 435 I offered to take a trip out today, 'do lunch' and have a look around. All good 'till now. What an afternoon.... The dealership used car showroom was a shambles, poor service, no interest, no communication and after being on site for over an hour, one of the salesmen drops in a remark that he's just sold this car. Er, I think not mate, it was sold yesterday! Nope. System was not updated so they sold the same car twice. Their ability to handle the situation was diabolical. Lack of communication is an understatement. After a further 2 hours they were given an ultimatum and we withdrew for lunch. Through perseverance and bloody mindedness, we won the day and the car is secured. Took it out for a drive - was all good! I have to say however, it's a well know group now firmly off my list forever. Has given me a new level of respect for my regular joint. Oh and as we said our goodbyes, we were informed the same thing just happened again.... great job guys. Shame really, the new car guys were amongst the best I've met - real enthusiasts with great knowledge!

seems the bad customer service is spreading. You woudl think since this is what pays their wages they woudl ensure sales go through well. I wonder have they hired someone from badmotoringworld

It would have put me off and in principle I would have walked away, if the service is appealing when buying the car God knows what it will be like if there are any aftersales issues

Well this is the Cooper group - home of a good forum friend some time back.
I am aware the Reading dealership is pretty poor but this related to the Surrey setup.

My local dealer Carrs has just been bought by the Jardine group and is now Lancasters, I hope it doesn't change too much as their service department was really good, they could do with sharper pencils in sales though

He sent me an email a few days later to follow up and it was in pigeon english. Maybe I'm a snob, but I expect a bit of professionalism. My wife and I received far better service (very high quality) from the Ford dealer in Cobham at the tail end of last year. I don't know how the other dealer got it so wrong. |
