E90 /52 No Compression Cylinder 6 (help!!!!!)

Hi was looking to get some feed back. I have a 2006 e90 330i. I had a mechanic come and i spect the vehicle because car was shacking , vibrating and have to give it gas to to stay on. Code read p0306 misfire cylinder 6. Changed coils and spark plugs, no change. Mechanic co conducted a compression test and @ 0 tested 5 just to make sure and all was good .. So this is were i need the feedback i know now that its internal. Mechanic said i would need an engine swap because if its the valves they cannot be worked on or replaced, is there any truth to this?? As it is a bmw . I know u can have the valve replaced or straightened on other vehiclws. I know i sound naive ,but im not too mechanical inclined, would like to get some options based on people who know the car . Thanks

First, I would make sure all the coils seated tight, can be a little tricky. Put a little oil in the spark plug hole of the suspected cylinder and perform another compression test. If you see a jump in reading, then it's your rings. If not , you may have valve problem.

He should perform a leak-down test rather than a compression test. Get a new mechanic.

I agree with making sure everything is plugged in proper. I had the same code/ same situation. Except that I was the one doing the diagnosis myself, in a hotel parking lot. I purchased a coil pack from the first available place as I was on the road for work,.. Autozone. I replaced the coil, no change, changed the plug, no change. Even had myself convinced for a minute that it was a faulty OČ sensor. A co-worker, who was holding my beer while I tinkered, noticed that the coil wasn't properly seated. The clip shut fully but there was still a 1/16" gap between the coil and plug. Upon further inspection we realized that the coil didn't have the proper female connector. There is a slot in the middle of the male connector that needs to line up with a raised ridge on the female end of the coil connector. The coil I purchased had the raised rib slightly offset, never allowing it to fully seat. Surprise!,.. AutoZone sold me the wrong part again. Hardly noticeable but definitely the problem. Went to O'Reilly after the zone gave me a hassle about returning it and they sold me one for iirc, $63 and a lifetime warranty.
People miss things, I looked right past this obvious obstruction for well over an hour. Hopefully it's something as simple as this for you.

BTW, the beer was a Budweiser if that helps too.

A bad fuel injector will trigger a misfire code as well. I'd get a second opinion on the dead cylinder.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
