Painted Roof

I love the look of the carbon fiber roof, but I opted for the moonroof because I just like having one. I placed an order for an AW M3 coupe and was thinking about painting the roof black along with adding 20" HRE 841s in matte black with a chrome lip, matte black front grills and Huper Optik 30 tint all around.

What do you guys think?

i wonder if evosport will make the carbon covers like they did on the e46 for roofs?

I can understand painting it black, even replacing the roof with the vorstiner CF roof they will be coming out with (I would if I got the sunroof). But do not put a overlay on the roof. Thats just poser.

they surely does them? there is some people that can paint it in carbon fiber, and it will look like stock, you can have both, moonroof, and carbon fiber roof,

Yeah, definitely no overlay for me. Around how much would it cost to paint the roof black? Should I do it jet black or jerez black?

I would go jetblack and with how the e46/e92 roofs are designed it should be easy. My guys around $500 to $700.

dont do overlays.... they arent usually perfect and very often you can tell that its an overlay... also, people will think youre a poser for using an overlay when you dont have a real CF roof.... painting it black would look a lot better...

A painted roof should only run $300, and my vinyl cost $150 (Infiniti too).

Best body shop in the area (rep, quality, price) is Bergen Imports in Cliffside Park, ask for Harry.

So I got my roof painted black, but it seems like the moulding where the front windshield meets the left and right side of the roof flaps and is a little bit loose.

Is this normal? Can someone please take a pic of this area?

Ugh no. Don't paint it or do an overlay. Let the wannabe M3 guys with 335i's do this (tons on E90post). If you paint it people will be like 'oh nice cf roof oh wait a minute ... is this even an M3?'. If you get a cf overlay people will be like 'oh hot cf roof oh wait a minute it has a sunroof too? ... is this even an M3?'

Either way you lose. Stick with what you got and get the real CF roof next time. How could you not in the first place?!??!?!

I have seen a black roof on a alpine white 550i, it looked really good.

I don't think its done to imitate carbon fiber. It just looks really clean.
