Intalling OEM lip
My e92 lip is getting painted right now and I am still researching on figuring out what the best method is to mount it.
I see that a lot of the people used the 3M tape and some used the liquid stuff.. but there is no concensus on which one is better than the other. I will most likely take it off one day and from my understanding the 3M would be a better route. Has anyone tried this tape? http://yhst-13811118617756.stores.ya...t/dosita1.html Applications: Excellent adhesion of exterior/interior trim including emblems, side molding and bumper cover trim. Substrates: Bonds metal, glass and plastic. Features & Benefits: • Economical, repair order sized • Super high strength • UV, water and solvent resistant • Clear, non-detectable • Repositionable |

I would still go with the 3M. It is cheaper, dependable, and easy to remove.

Got it installed with the 3M double side tape and it looks great. I bought it non-painted and got it painted by a highly recommended body shop around here. Now that it is installed I can see that there is an obvious diffrence in color. It seems that the lip is a bit whiter than the rest of the car.
I want to take it back and have them take a look at it but I know they will just blame it on the difference in material. Does everyone have this issue? It seems that most white cars always have a piece on it that seems to be off by a little bit. |

White is definitely one of the harder colors to match. I would take it back to the shop and ask them to repaint it. I dont see why they would blame it on difference in material. The material is irrelevant and even if they do blame the material, did you not buy a OEM aero lip because the material is the same as other parts on the car.
The good thing about installing with the 3m tape is ease of removal so take it off and have the shop repaint it. Better yet, leave them with one of your tow hook covers so they have a paint sample to go off of. |

my lip is whiter than the rest of my car. i guess its not an uncommon thing. unfortunately i already mounted it before i noticed and it was shipped so i didn't feel like returning it. it's a lease anyway, i just gotta deal with it for 3 years. lol.
