Does anyone know if there is a manual I can download? I know it's sad, but while I have months of wait, I can start reading up. Especially as I have never owned a BMW before.

Once you have your VIN you can log into the MyBMW page register it as your BMW and then you get access to the manuals...

Yes, there is! Go to https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html and enter this code: G458497 (when you have your own VIN, enter its last 7 digits instead of this). You can do the same on an iPad or iPhone using the Driver's Guide app. Enjoy!

Until very recently it has been possible in the UK to get an on-line manual from the my-bmw site on a PC but this is no longer available. The US site mentioned above will not accept my UK VIN (I get a message "The Online Owner's Manual for this vehicle identification number (VIN) is currently not available"). The Driver's Guide app on Android provides a customised manual for the vehicle (and includes the i-drive functions) but I would prefer to be able to view the manual on a proper screen rather than a phone. Has anyone managed to find a way to do this?

just go to a us dealer's site that has a similar car and use the last seven digits of that car in the us BMW site to get the online manual.

My VIN finally worked in bmwusa.com but its not a printable (PDF) manual, just online pages and videos. At least I couldn't find the link

I can still access my bmw UK site. When did it stop?

First time I noticed it was yesterday (02/02/18). It was working last week. My link https://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/mybmw/myvehicles.html now takes me to the BMW Ownership page - no owners manual here. Using the search option on that page just refers me to the Drivers Guide phone app.

I know this is an older thread but my 540xi is new to me and I would like to get an online owner's manual. I tried the above link, which does take me to a BMW page for manuals and asks for a VIN. I put in the last seven of my VIN and it just goes to a blank page with the BMW website header and footer, nothing showing in between. Tried again with a different VIN but no joy. I have Ad Blocker but turned it off but still no change. Any ideas where I can get the online manual or how to correct this? Thanks, Bob

I think I solved this problem by switching browsers, so it must be something in my Chrome settings. But what I found was just the BMW page with a fair amount of information, but not a downloadable pdf file of the owner's manual like I have for, say , my 2016 Corvette. Is there a pdf available of the actual owner's manual that I have in my car? Or is this BMW website page the only option? Thanks --Bob

There is a BMW drivers guide app for both the iPhone and iPad. Not a PDF but you can always have your manual on the go. Make sure you download the animations for offline use.

how long did you have to wait before your VIN start to work? I got my VIN for almost a week now still doesn't work...

Go to the dealer and "borrow" a VIN until yours works.

Wasn't there a post somewhere saying BMW no longer provided printed manuals?

Interesting b/c when I go to the BMW site and enter my VIN, I get some content. But when I go to "Reference" then "Technical Data", all I get is:

"Technical data can be found in the printed Owner's Manual."

My 2017 model came with a printed manual but the satnav / telephone manual you have to pay for I believe. ( you pay all this money for a 5 and they don't print this out for you!)

Well I have had a long and not entirely satisfactory back and forth with BMW NA customer service. They had called me for my input on the new 540xi so I gave them a list of about ten issues or problems, many of which we have discussed here and on the other forum. I will post that list at another time. I will also post this on the other forum to see if it works there.

One big issue that they can't seem to resolve for me is the lack of an owner's manual available in a downloadable .pdf file. GM does this for Corvettes and other models and it is a huge help to have it on my desktop or laptop rather than having to go to the car. I find trying to use their website for those on line guides a huge pain (it took me trying three different browsers even to get in), and I don't find then near as useful as a well organized owner's manual. Their final response was "We regret to say we do not have a web link for PDF copies of Owner's Manuals."

However, miracle of miracles, they do exist. During this correspondence the customer service rep actually sent me a .pdf file of the 2019 5 series manual, which I now have loaded on my desktop. So we know they have all the manuals in .pdf form, they just won't let us access them. Don't know why but I am sure it their desire to control us and our data tightly.

So I will try to attach it but it may not work.If it does, then here it is.

Edit--It looks like the way it works is that if you open it it saves it to your desktop (or where ever you want it on your own computer). Let me know if it does or does not work for others. --Bob
