turbo lag varies

Just wondering if anyone else with the 328d (or any bmw turbo diesel) notices any variance with turbo lag off the line.

Anytime I am feeling spunky, I go straight to sport+ mode and throw it over to sport shift.
Usually, I get dang near instant power. But sometimes it lags like a mother just like in ECO PRO.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

Hmm, there are a couple things you can check.
1st is the car in regen? My car usually feels more sluggish when it's happening.
2nd what is the oil level on the dipstick? Excessive oil might be a problem. Service guy used 7qt once. Capacity is 5.5 qt.

Good thoughts. I DID just get my oil changed. I will have to check that.
As for regen, I've owned the car now for 6 mths. I've never seen the notorious regen. I also commute 1:40 one way...

Thanks.

Straight off the line with no power braking my 328d is very laggy even in Sport (I don't have Sport+ and no interest in coding it in). It's noticeably more laggy in Eco-Pro, but still a good half second delay in Sport between putting the pedal down and the back of my head hitting the head rest.

A little bit of power braking cures all of that. I'd make sure you're always comparing apples-to-apples. Are you really at a complete stop all these times you're comparing launch speeds, even a slight roll or engine slightly above idle will make it launch almost immediately.

Apples to apples for sure. It's chipped and in sport+ it usually jumps right off the line. Even better if I spool. Except every now and then, it is like it thinks it's in eco pro.
