HELP, rear bumper fitment question
I have a 2010 335d and wanted to know if a 335i Msport rear bumper will fit on my car. I no longer need access to the DEF opening
I'm about to drive five hours tomorrow morning to pick one up I just want to make sure it will fit. Thanks! |

Is the D bumper also m-sport? The supports for the small valance piece at bottom might be different for msport vs standard. I'm unsure if your motivation to switch is just to drop the DEF door or switching from standard to m-sport bumper.

Thanks for the reply. My goal is to drop the door and switch from standard to M sport bumper. We will be swapping bumpers so I should be able to take what I need from the donor car, correct?

DEF equipment is removed without bumper off. Some of it is actually removed from above after the black plate is unbolted.
That said, there is some plastic parts directly inboard of the DEF door that can't be removed except if bumper is off. I just cut the rubber hoses connecting to this as I didn't want to remove bumper cover. |

Did you cut off that disc shaped thing that was under the DEF door OR just removed it from bumper and tucked it in/tie wrapped it to something? That was what i had to cut off to remove rest of DEF system. It was trapped inside between bumper and another piece of structure. I'll go find a picture within the "removing alphabet soup" thread and post.
EDIT: I dug up the picture from another forum member but could only locate it on my PC and not in forums anymore. The disc thing i speak of is circled in red in the photo attached. It is hanging over on passenger side in this pic but would be located right by driver's side DEF door. Last edited by BB_cuda; 06-02-2017 at 10:10 AM.. |

Bumping this thread. Does anyone have any experience with installing the straight 335i rear bumper cover on a regular 335d? I don't use the DEF filler any more but an astute observer on the FB forum noted that the exhaust cutouts might not be the same.

Another bump. I measured a 335i bumper and the distance from the outer edge of the left exhaust to the outer edge of the right tip is 35.5 inches -- the same as my 335d. Before I buy a new rear bumper cover can anyone think of any reason why not to get the 335i version? (Price is the same but I'm thinking it would not be bad to lose the DEF port.)
