Unhappy Diminished performance after first oil service

Hi.

A couple of days ago my M240i had it's first oil service at the dealer.

They put 6.5 liters of oil and changed the oil filter. Didn't change the air filter because "the car doesn't need it yet" according to the BMW system...

From the moment i drove away from the shop, i noticed diminished performance of the car (acceleration, revving speed, among others).

What could be the cause of that ??? Too much oil added? Incorrect viscosity oil ???

What are your thoughts ?

Did they do anything else like a software update? Check your copy of the work order. Sometimes the dealers will perform updates or recall work without mentioning it. Maybe the disconnected the battery and trans was reset?

Also use the iDrive to check oil level.
And check under the hood to make sure they didn't leave a fender cover in there strangling the intake air.

Oil level is ok (MAX level) according to iDrive and no strange objects obstructing the air intake....

The incorrect viscosity of the oil (too thick) can cause this ???

I don't think any motor oil viscosity that a BMW dealership would use in any of there cars could result in noticeable power-loss. But I'm not positive.

If they bent the exhaust on the bottom of the car crimping the tubes restricting exiting exhaust?

And no check engine light ?

I don't know if oil viscosity could be the cause of your problems but don't assume the dealer gave you the right viscosity. My dealer put in 5w30 in my engine when they should have used 0w20. I only caught their mistake after looking closely at the invoice. Lesson learned... don't assume anything and question everything.

Make sure they haven't updated your car ... You should check the I-Step from ISTA or E-Sys. You can also export the user profile to a USB.

I have experienced loss of performance in the F020-17-03-503.

That's true. I just figured out my dealer is not using the recommended viscosity oil. They put 5w30 instead of 0w40 as BMW recommended. What can i do about it ??? Does this have any influence in the above mentioned diminished performance ???
