what's the best way to look at N54 power steering pulley
I know there are endless posts, but I think the "mother thread" has pics hosted by photobucket (gone)....
Just undo the apron, and look from below on the driver's side, right? I just want to have a look and see if my '07 has ever struck the subframe, due to age..... been peeking from above at every angle and can't find any evidence of the belt being damaged, but it seems there isn't any way to see the inside edge of the pulley this way... |

Interesting, you mean without the pump separated, you can't really see the inside edge of the pulley, even with the apron off? I thought you could see the contact from below (if there was any prior)....

Take the radiator fan off and you should have a better view at least from the top. If you're concerned I would tighten both the pulley bolts and the PS pump mounting bolts while you're down there. Multiple reports of PS pump mounting bolts coming loose.

see I wanted to take a peek, but now I might as well replace the belt, tensioner, and 2 pulleys anyway....
I wanted to "prove" it's never happened, but got really curious.... It's all good....thanks |
