Can v80 DME be updated to v81 by the dealer
Im a little confused by this whole thing. Im just wondering if bmw is actively updating all 335's to be able to detect piggybacks or if its possible. Is it a different DME all together or just a different program.thanks in advance for your input.

v80 is being updated to progman 29.2 to detect piggys (torque detection, or limitation)
v81 has hardware in place to detect piggys (measuring fuel usage)

so either way the days of piggybacks might be numbered? I hope my car never gets updated.

Me too.....
I think we are fine for now. If all else fails just enjoy the car stock, or run JB2 without the fuel adjustments (equal to SSTT), Intake, etc.... Give it about 2 weeks or so and there will be a solution for 29.2 and probably v81....

good luck with that one... better hope your elv (if you have one) doesnt fail or your i-drive (if you have it) doesnt start screwing up. those are the 2 main reasons the e90's get programmed.
