Digital Speed

After my first sunny drive I experienced the low contrast speedo as most have reported.

Later in the day I noticed the board computer has a digital speed setting, not sure if this is new or not but it's a pretty simple solution to the problem that I haven't seen mentioned.

I have a June 2017 build so this might be a software update if everyone doesn't have it.

Digital speedo has been there since day 1 so no not a new feature.
Yes it helps and most of the time is the only way we can actually see what speed we are doing, but doesn't take away from the fact the analogue display should still be legible at all times.

Yes, it's been there since day 1, but I think people are also complaining that the position is too low and size is too small. And I think LCI has addressed this issue?

I don't see what the big deal is with the speedo, just turn on the lights and the speedo lightens up :

I think the display size IS increased in the LCI. The display is stupid, it should be much larger. Porsche figured this out like 10 years ago! The speedo dial is asinine and has always been hard to read.

Wishing there was a TSB for this. I love my M2, but honestly during the daytime the dim low contrast speedo and tach really annoy the heck out of me. For an expensive M car this seems pretty unsat.

I really like the look of the 18' M2 gauge cluster. The black on white contrast is very bright and easy to see during the daytime lol, does that sound silly?

I been driving over 20 year now (whoa, did I just say that), but can't people get a sense of how fast they are going without looking at the gauges? even if its hard to read, if the needle is somewhere near "10 o'clock" you're going 50 mph.

i'm not saying the gauges are perfect, but seems like an overblown issue.

Totally yeah!! It's just nice to look at some nice easy to read and have some bright readily visible gauges during the day. Just like every other 50k+ car.

I think the concerns about the visibility of the speedo are overstated, look at photos of the speedo of the 1M coupe and it will look very familiar and I have never heard a complaint about the background of that speedo. On the digital side I think BMW could do a better job on the size and placement of the digital speedo and it seems that would be very easy to do, interestingly enough it doesn't seem like they changed much on the digital side on the LCI. Personally I would prefer the outside temp on the Idrive screen and a nice big and clear digital speedo display in that overall space.

The M235 is exactly the same, too. Are they up in arms about it over there?

What is that gauge at the bottom of the tach? Is that for alternator?

shows fuel efficiency - correlates to speed and throttle position.

A waste of space basically, should of put a proper oil temp guage there instead.
