Do I need spacers?

I have an E90 325 with sport package, current set up is 17X8 front, 17X8.5 rear, upgrading to 18 inch 162's, 18X8 all around--do I need spacers for the rear since I am going 1/2 inch narrower on the rim?

Any input would be greatly appreciated--dont know if anyone has done this, just hope it looks ok without the spacers--if not, I'll buy some!

You dont have to but you could if you like. Spacers are not required for those wheels to fit (assuming they have the OEM offset).

i thought 162s come staggered

I would I'm putting 10mm spacers and I have already staggered 162's

you don't "need" spacers, but 10mm on the rear 162's on your car would be pretty hot.

I have the stock 17" sport pkg setup, the are replica 162's, so you can get them staggered or not--I would have preferred staggered, but got a deal I could not pass up...

So the consensus is 10mm spacers? From my great math skills, it looks like 1/2 inch is 12.7 mm, so it appears that would more or less make it equivalent to the stock setup???

Now this is where I appear stupid--is it as simple as buying 2 10mm spacers for the rear, or are there other things I have to buy? And if that is all I need, is there a place that anyone recommends buying them or a certain type to buy??

All your input is greatly appreciated--love this forum!

BTW, I put winter tires on the stock 17" staggered setup, runs through the snow like nobody's business!

Next question, if I have to exchange the wheels studs for longer ones, what the heck should I do when I switch to the winter 8.5 inch wheels? Leave the spacers on? That will look ok?

Is pressing the new studs to be pressed into the hubs of the vehicle a difficult of expensive job?

All you would need are spacers and longer bolts. We carry them on our site so please feel free to check it out- H&R Spacers

When switching to the 8.5" wheels, you can take off the spacers and use the bolts that came with the wheels.

Thanks--saw they site--with the 10mm spacers, is it possible to use the existing wheel studs or do I need to replace them? Frankly, it seems like it will be a bit time consuming to keep switching the studs--I would either leave the 10mm spacer on all the time, or just go without it...

i would get new studs. the whole idea is to put the spacers in and leave them. you dont want the stock studs to not be able to thread completely and get loose while you're driving around....

the wheel width won't affect the whole spacer deal directly. it has everything to do with the wheel offset (for example, et 22).
