Chicago - Inner Front Tire Wear

Hey guys,

I recently came down to Chicago from Toronto. Before coming down I changed my front tires because the inside edges were balding, so I put on two mint tires on before making the trip. Last week I noticed my new tires are starting to bald from the inside as well. I did alignment 6 months ago. I'm starting to think it may be bad control arms and tie rods. I usually buy parts from fcpeuro. Any recommendations on shops that reputable and well priced? Thanks

In Chicago? A lot! Where are you at exactly and how long will you stay?

South loop. I'm here until end of September. I was initially going to DIY once I got back home but seeing the excessive wear in two weeks already on the newer tires, I'll have to get it done asap.

Thanks guys for the recommendations. I took it to a different shop in West Loop for free diagnostic. I was told I need front tension rod bushings and both front struts replaced and alignment. Was quoted over $2100 (6 hour labour 850, 1250 parts), which I find very steep for those two jobs. Is it better just to replace the entire tension strut instead of bushing? Any aftermarket strut suggestions?

Message me I can get them replaced for u at a fraction of the price. And yes it's alot easier and cost worthy to replace the entire assembly vs bushing

Agreed, and you get a new ball joint as well if you replace the whole arm.

I do all my work from my own garage. Yes it's on Jackstands and makes life harder, but stuff like this isn't hard at all especially when I've done 4 cars already

that is 1/4 from what your car is worth. All in you are looking at what those idiots ask for labor. That is parts, labor and alignment.
