Connecteddrive app

I have a 63 plate F31 that was manufactured in July 2013 with business navigation. I have not paid for the connecteddrive services but recently the app on my iPhone has started to Have a bit more life in in. It allows me to select a destination in the app and tells me to connect to my car. If I plug it into the USB port in the armrest the destination doesn't come through. I wasn't expecting it to work over the Internet as I don't have the subscription but should it work if I plug it in?

No, without the ConnectedDrive subscription and the necessary options on your car, you probably won't be able to do much more with it. Bummer!

I thought that might be the case. Not sure it's worth the £165 for connecteddrive and then more on top for remote services.

The app says some features only work in 2014 models and later. What would I be missing out on by having a 2013 car if I do buy it?
