Only one fill bolt on the tranny. If it is stripped, you'll have to get a spline type bit and drive it in there to get it out.
https://www.amazon.com/IRWIN-HANSON-.../dp/B0002SRG66 Dimple makes a great magnetic SS fill plug bolt. However, you will need an off set 17mm to get it on & off for the future. |

Don't undo any other bolts as plugs, you may, well actually you will, disassemble something it is holding inside the transmission and likely will require a rebuild of the transmission. Search for "miata 6 speed transmission fill plug" if you are not convinced.

Word to the wise. Don't over crank the replacement fill plug. You are only sealing a hole, not holding up a 400 lb transmission. Never understood why the trans plug is in so tight from the factory.

Instead of buying an extractor kit, you may be able to score the fill plug with the edge of a metal file just enough to get a flat head wedged into the scored groove, then you can pound the flathead with a rubber mallet in the intend direction of rotation (lefty loosey!). I've attached a diagram to illustrate what I mean, and to show off my insane MSPaint skills. Good Luck!

You will need an off-set 17mm in order to get it in & out. No big deal. Craftsman makes a great off-set 17mm. If you go on Ebay, and search craftsman 17mm off-set, you will find sellers that sell individual wrenches like this for about $17.00... |
