F10 M5 Owners: Are you planning on getting the F90?

Similar to CaptainRacing's question, but only for current F10 M5 owners: Are you planning on getting the F90 M5?

YES! The new M5 is better in every way. Lighter, faster, AWD, more aggressive styling and there is that 0 to 60 time of 3.2 secs. ALL IN for me.

I'm going to seriously consider it.

While it feels like an F10 LCI in some regards, the AWD is appealing to me. It will be interesting to see residuals and MF's on the F90 leases and how it fares against other brands.

The answer is simply a YES!
The F90 just seems like the natural progression of the F10. Couldn't have imagined it to be any different honestly.

Yes definitely, white with CCBs and hopefully sakhir orange interior! I got rid of my F10 M5, thought of getting the E63S until I saw the release of the F90

i dunno yet. The weight / AWD / and the 3.2sec 0-60 time are very impressive.

However, the styling and the way it looks is just too underwhelming for me to justify the move. Im just not edge-of-my-seat excited for the F90 as I was when planning and spec'ing out my F10.

Im waiting to see what they do with the LCI to decide whether Im upgrading.

I think I will get one but I am going to wait until the LCI. I have a feeling the headlights we see in the new G05 X5 will be on the LCI which I like how they look. plus the CP wheels hopefully will look much better.

Not a F10 owner here, but I am looking to buy a F06 shortly. Nah, I'll probably go for the M8 GC instead.

do we know whether CP will be available at launch? Traditionally, CP has never been available until 2 years after launch for the M3 and M5/6.

BTW I think that's silly. They should do what Porsche does on a launch. Always go out with your high end (or mid-range) version first. It'll be the enthusiast who are the most likely to buy it and willing to pay top dollar for the top trim.

IIRC, Macan/991 was launched with a Turbo and S, Cayman was launched with a S, and LCI usually launches with a Turbo/S trims.

Hell to the no! When you've owned the F10 M5 for as long as I have, there's not enough reason to spend so much more money on another one when there are so many disappointing aspects about it. Basically it's simply not different enough to warrant spending the money.

Most previous F10 M5 owners are people who either leased it for only 3 years or bought it for a year or two, sold it then moved on to another car, and so never got to know the F10 M5 to its complete potential. I've owned mine coming up on 5 years next month, and I'm still exploring its capabilities and finding new things. So for most people who by the F90 it will be a pretty new experience for them, but for someone like me it won't be that different of an experience. Or at least I will say that I have learned my lesson and will never buy another Pre-LCI M5 again. A 2021 LCI F90 M5 with Competition Package and various improvements over the years, now that's a different story.

I think thats the strategy behind the First Edition. I gotta admit I do like the dark frozen red paint of the First Edition. However, I emailed my contact at M-Studio and he "was pretty sure" (read: confirmed) that the color will eventually be available as an Individual color.

As always, you nailed it. Ive only had my F10 M5 for 2 years in Oct (minus 2 months when I didnt because it was in transit to the US after ED) and I *still* have less than 10000 miles on it! Gotta drive it more often haha.

IMO, BMW continues to dilute special editions by offering the specials colors in their individual program. Granted, not everyone will get approval, but you can if you're early enough in your order.

If you really wanted to make it special, then don't offer the color and interior trim packages, ever. So no piano black, no matte tomato, no contrast stitching in those combos.

I'm personally excited just to see all these current F10 M5 drivers to sell theirs and upgrade. Its pretty hard to find a good deal on an M5 right now so maybe I'll upgrade.

wut? What's your budget? I can walk into a '14 M5 with CP and <50k miles for $53-$55k with no haggle. Even cheaper for '13s. It's like the best deal ever for a M car outside a used E9X M3 right now. Wait another year and numbers will dip into mid-$40s.

Under 40k would be nice, 35k would be awesome. But I don't mind waiting. There is a 13 M5 with low miles for 40k that I'm kinda considering

under $40? Go home bruh, you got at least another 1-2 years to wait. Crazy to think a 5-6 year old M5 will be worth $35k-ish. For comparison: A 2013 M3 will be worth about the same in the same timeframe, but a M3 starts in the $73k area MSRP.

Another point of reference a $110-20k MSRP 997.2 GTS today is still worth $70k. Gives you an idea the varying depreciation rates. Though granted GTS were all sold at MSRP, M5s were probably sold at 10% discounts, and M3s were probably around that discount too.

I don't think a person has to own a car for 5 years to know the cars potential. A person can own a car for two years and have had fully explored the car. But you are right most people like myself will lease the car three years and get rid of it for multiple reasons. I had intention of keeping the car but I was offered a business opportunity I couldn't pass up. I'm like you I'm going to wait to get the LCI. I have always bought the LCI for the last three M5's I fully agree with you about the pre-LCI I'll never buy one of those. I still believe you will get one before me though

I know that is why I said I am waiting for the LCI which will probably be two or more years. The CP has never come out on launch with any BMW before so I don't think they will start now. BMW is all about money nothing more they will milk the special editions until they can't bleed people no more.

If BMW does ED without hitting dealer allocations, like they did at the launch of the F10 M5, I'll get one for sure.
