Car won't start, doors will not open or close.

Has anyone else had this problem.
2016 three series sport model. Diesel. I have an occasional problem with starting the car. This is what happens.
Fire key flob doors open, get in but car won't start. Get out shut and lock doors. Wait 5 min open doors and car will now start. Sometimes doors will not open so have to use the key which sets off the alarm. When alarm stops car will start. Frequency of problem getting worse.

Car booked into Dealer on Thursday but wondering if anyone has had a simular problem and what the cause was. ?

Thanks

Key battery? You must get a message on the dash when the car won't start?

Yeh you can hold the fob to the steering column to check that.

Sounds like actual car battery. What is the resting voltage of the car battery op?

I would also think key battery. You do get a notification on the dash though.

What about trying the other key?

I had one occasion where the key fob became totally unresponsive, the car was unlocked so i started and stopped the car and all was well.

Other things in the car would shut down to preserve as much power in the main battery so doubt it's that. It wouldn't start at all then.
