Rear Windscreen Heater

I have a 2017 440i GC and I have just used the rear screen heater...and it is painfully slow...just started to clear after 15minutes. Anyone else noticed this or does it need to go back?

sounds normal...
wet cold nights, lead to condensation, and in mine typically >5 mins to be perfectly clear...

In case you are not aware... your driving profile and energy management could mean the heated screen is being cut back due to the battery state of charge, and/or other consumer priorities.

BTW, is it just misting, or is it heavy condensation?

It's fine, it will be quicker clearing ice. It takes a lot longer to clear condensation, mine takes around 20 mins this time of year.

How do you get condensation this time of year? I haven't had any on mine since winter!

Cars are damp at night now along with the windows and mirrors. Maybe it's warmer in Norfolk?

Was going to be my question. I'm in the Highlands in Lochaber region, can't get much wetter than here. I also live in quite a humid environment between two rivers, still don't get much condensation in the car, certainly not this time of the year.

What's causing it? Not using A/C to dehumidify? Or water ingress?

its the condensation on the outside of the car, just a couple of mornings there has been some on the car. My old x6 cleared it within 5 mins.

Doesn't normally mist at night. The typical situation I have cars that mist, is when the temperature drops fast mid afternoon, on sunny winter season days. Caused by damp in the car, like damp carpet mats. Then it is usually the front screen that starts to mist first, from the bottom. If I see that happen, I get the driver's mat out when I get an opportunity, and dry it.

I use A/C all the time, so keep humidity in check. I see lots of cars up here with very misted windows. I wager most is caused by damp, either through use, (wet clothes, shoes, etc.,) or ingress of water, and/or not using A/C to dehumidify.

That's a different thing altogether, get yourself a rubber blade and do the right thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if BMW are cutting back on element output to help eco credentials. We'd need to check out the wattage, see if it is so.
