USB Map updates is only 2017-2 not 3

Just spent the afternoon and evening downloading the latest USB map update. Went for a drive whilst it uploaded to the car and took about 40 minutes.

Version now shows 2017-2, rather than the 2017-3 which I thought was now out.

2017-3 is available on OTA updates for NBT Evo.

Yes, or "ROUTE" maps as us peasants call it. 2017-2 has only recently emerged for ROUTE. It seems to be at least 2 months behind the latest updates for other BMW nav systems.

I sometimes wish I had paid an obscene premium for the privilege of being misdirected by the sat nav system in widescreen and for bragging rights in this forum.

It does give strange routes sometimes and the traffic info is next to useless but at least it does in white screen with voice control and handwriting input!

2017-2 is the latest for CIC too, I just downloaded it for my bro in law

I'm puzzled by the frequent referrels to odd nav directions and iffy RTTI with the Pro Nav, I've always found it to be excellent although I seem to be in a minority. The iDrive is going to be a thing I will miss going to a different manufacturer. As it was I looked at the standard Audi "SD-Card" based Nav and thought WTF is this shite? Even though I hardly go anywhere I had to upgrade to the top version which, like the Pro Media, is HDD based and much improved - the google satellite images overlaying the nav are especially nice - but I still don't feel it will be as good as iDrive 5/6

I must admit, the standard iDrive "rotary telephone dial" input method is a PITA for the infrequent occasions that I need to enter a new destination. I'm sure handwriting or touch screen input would be much easier.

Don't forget the benefit of 4G connnected services with Pro Nav/Media.*

I find voice for new destinations easiest.

I know where you are coming from, I had an A7 for a short while and I hated the nav (it was the basic nav but even the larger one felt small). Most of the time I had the screen hidden because coming from pro-nav, it was hard to live with. Even the I-drive controller felt like you had to spin it the wrong way to go up/down because I was so accustomed to BMW's version.

The latest Audi's do have a very nice virtual cockpit feature, which models are you looking at?

A6 S-Line. The Nav "High" is actually pretty good, as I said the Google overlay is cool, and it does have the larger screen but it's not a wide-screen format like the iDrive which is a shame. The full colour dashboard part is nice though.

Me too, you can hear yourself think.

I'm pretty sure you've owned 3 Skodas and 2 Audis.

The apostrophe police are out early this morning.

Perhaps we should open a pedants' board?
