Dangerous traffic situation!

Has anyone had this warning before or know what it means? I've never seen it before, and there was f all on the road when I got to the point it showed on the map!

I've seen it a few times. Normally it is the result of a car on the hard shoulder of the motorway. But it is certainly not very consistent and rarely very useful.

Had it once and there was a bedstead in the middle of the carriageway. It's only as up-to-date as the Highways Agency enters or removes incidents.

Yep, had it before driving down a few Christmases ago, in that big storm when trucks were getting blown over. I think it displayed a no entry sign for me (could be wrong).

Yep - seen it once. There was a wagon broken down about a mile in front of me in the middle carriageway.

Had it a few times too and as has been said, offers little value. It can be a pain as you can't clear the notification until its off the system and keeps alerting. Only once has it actually been useful.

I have had it because there was an accident on the opposite carriage way, it had no bearing on my journey and seemed a bit over the top.

I have seen it a number of times. It has been for traffic at a reduced speed as in the motorway is fairly clear and you come across a sudden reduction in the speed of the traffic. And as already been suggested a broken down or slow moving vehicle or something on the carriageway.

I have seen it once or twice. A smash had closed the southbound A34 before Newbury and stationary traffic had built up blocking the carriageway. Also seen it for a diesel spill on the A34. Both were factually correct and useful.

Had the sign up, specifically warning of a tree blocking the road a half mile further on, no more warnings since.

I had a few things pop up I'd never seen before when in Germany including, I think, this one - I don't have a current online subscription so I guess it comes from the free Trafficmaster ? data

I had one tonight on the A1. Came round the next corner to find the traffic stationary!

Had this on for about 20 miles on the day I collected my car - shows on the HUD for me, not on the black panel.

I also had debris in the road displayed tonight on the way home - nothing to be seen though!

I got it once, driving off the dealer with the brand new car. Took me a while to realize the warning was related to trafic; I was wondering what the hell was going on. Ended up being right, got stuck for an hour and a half doing about 2mph uphill most of that time. Not great for the break in period.

.
+1

Examples I have had in London.

1. Car broken down on A40 parked in opposite direction to flow of traffic in slow lane i.e. Some larkhead would have been driving in the wrong direction. Wouldn't have wanted to have been there.

2. Emergency gas works

3. Flooded roads

4. Traffic suddenly slowing down due to narrow lanes.

It was annoyingly slow to update i.e. 1 kept coming up for a week even after the offending vehicle had been removed.

Mine did it when there was a Audi on fire on the hard shoulder... quite a new one actually, the driver was sat next to it with his head in his hands...
