New Car Pick up Tomorrow

Afternoon all

Pick up my new 4 tomorrow

Apart from the usual car inspection before signing the docs on the day, do you guys suggest a quick test drive of the car before too to make sure all is in order.

Apart from the inspection (paintwork) anything else I must do . Conscious some dealerships want you in and out which I won't be doing .

It's raining tomorrow too so an outdoor inspection is definitely a No no.

Cheers

I've never driven a car when picking up a new one - what difference will it make in reality? If you find a problem on your way home you turn around and go back.

Agreed. Check all of the stuff which they could say 'it wasn't like that when you collected it' - paint, wheels, interior....

Anything mechanical can be sorted out later.

Check all Wheels with the finest tooth comb you own!! Repairs to the allow surfaces are obvious, but check carefully around the very outer rim, especially if you have rim protect tyres.

Hope it goes well!!! Best of luck.

As others have stated, just make sure you check all the wear and tear items that is not covered once you drive off.
Some like to hold off on unwrapping to let their detailer coat/ppf right away, not advisable if you don't have Ultimate coverage for your paint. You can also ask nicely to use their detailing bay to unwrap your car, it shouldn't be a problem.

It's a new car not a second hand car. What do you think a BMW dealer is going to hide.

Hopefully nothing, but there are numerous examples where new cars have been damaged before delivery. I haven't had that, but I have had the tyre inflation kit missing from a new car and a dealer (BMW Brussels) lying through their teeth about it.

Most of them are simple not hiding anything, something may have happen during shipping without their knowledge which they will gladly fix or find a solution to if you mention it prior to signing.

Apart from the obvious and what is already mentioned (wheels, interior, locking wheel nut key, tyre inflation kit e.t.c.), i'd add to check the bodywork with a fine tooth comb. Brand New or used dealer cars are often tightly parked. I work in the trade and brand new cars are often parked about 3cms away from each other in storage compounds - seriously!

This is where scratches, dents and scuffs can easily happen. So you want to look at the car at all angles, down each side for lacquer differences, finish issues and dents.

Good luck with the pickup tomorrow

Greta advice BMWwak. I went to a dealership near me last weekend , not the one I'm picking from and went into the back where all the new cars where parked ready for new customers and the new reg.

It wasn't locked up

I saw what you meant they are parked so closely and I'm sure little scratches plus can happen easily

Repainted doors......

PS If moving from one BMW to another BMW...get the dealer to move your profile over for you, or sort it yourself on USB stick. Makes the new car feel like home in zero time

How do you export a profile to the key by the way? Never been able to work it out?

I don't think you do, its to USB or to the BMW 'cloud'. Never to a key.

From the 2 options I mentioned you can then import to another vehicle.

Not sure what you mean by "export a profile to the key"?

Profiles can be exported to a usb stick or to Connected Drive (Settings, Profiles, Export)

I always export to connected drive and then when you get in a new car (or a loaner for that matter) you an log into Connected and just download/activate your own profile.
