MPPK

Been looking at some form of engine performance upgrade for my 330d.
Saw the thread on the DTUK box, have to say I'm very tempted.
Now I see threads on MPPK, which are also very tempting as I'm still warranted!
Has anyone had this fitted anywhere in the london/southeast area?
Maybe start a list of dealers with experience in fitting MPPK?

I've just bought a dtuk box going to fit it tomorrow, I looked at the mppk and seems allot of money for not amazing gains.

My car is still in warranty hence why not going for a full remap.

I'll post my thoughts on the box one fitted and used for a few days.

Where in the south east are you? If your not too far away and wanted to see what the dtuk box is like happy for you to have a try.

Start with Map 2 setting +1 and then see how you get on.

I ran with Map 2 +3 and the car flew.

Thanks mate,

Be very interested on your thoughts.
Thanks for your kind offer, not sure which way to go yet, although the fiddly nature of fitting DTUK, and the warranty friendly nature of MPPK makes me lean towards that.
But if I can't find anywhere for a quote and fitting, I may well take you up on your offer.

Just done about 100 miles in the car today and very impressed with the dtuk box have tried a few different settings and currently on map 2.

In terms of fitting the dtuk once you have fitted it for the first time you're be able to whip it out in 15 mins. I think the cost of the mppk is around 1200 quid.

I'm going to be driving to Liverpool next week in it so will be covering around 400 miles so will have some more feedback

Let me know if you got any other questions

I live in London but used Cotswolds Gloucester to install mine as they were one on the few dealers at the time with previous experience. Paid £1200 but I'm sure there are better deals around today

Cotswolds Gloucester is a little far from me.

As I mentioned somewhere else I had a DTUK box in my previous car & was good. Although this time I looked at the MPPK but just couldn't justify the cost so waited and bought a Steinbauer box instead.

This is very similar to the AC Schnitzer tuning it but less money. The power delivery is now much improved on my 330d and its does seem more refined the way it delivers it by comparison.

Maybe an alternative to consider? less cost than MPPK but more than DTUK

I'm also considering either MPPK or DTUKbox (car has 1 year warranty left).
Out of interest, what was the insurance hit with these? I'm with Aviva but not sure how they'd view the "upgrade".

FYI - went online and it doesn't actually let you declare either the official retune or a tuning box:

...and if you tick "other" it won't give you a quote (just tells you to ring them - currently out of hours though).

MPPK does come with an intercooler as well. From what I can see yes it is a conservative tune but has been pushed through rigorous testing by BMW. I’m going to go this route.

Why I went the MPPK route when I had my 330d, the car was improved all round still gave good mpg and never missed a beat no matter how it was driven

Going to get this done in a month or so. What are the power and torque figures quoted? I always belive less is more start pushing things to the limit and that is when things break. I’d rather have a realisable but quick car.

I can understand you being cautious, to be fair there is a lot of margin for improvement when tuning the 30D so long as a box is not an EBay special and from a decent company then it will be fine.

The DTUK boxes are now 3 channel and made by DMS in Germany and are TUV approved. Mine recently produced 330 BHP and 721NM

The MPK will produce around 295Bhp and 600Nm

I actually bought my car and the last thing I would want to do on a brand new car would be to break it, for me the DTUK box is safe but I also looked at the MPK but decided the cost v increase was not worth it.

It's a BMW engine so should be more than capable of taking the increase, however for some peace of mind is worth having.

Either way you will enjoy the increase whatever it is
