Early oil change for x40i?

Hoping to keep my 340i for quite a while and it's all paid for so would anyone recommend an oil change before the scheduled service? It's just past 6k miles now. Thanks

Owning my car myself, it gets an intermediate oil and oil filter change every 9k miles (draining via the sump, not one of those useless pumps that pull most of the oil out of the dipstick, leaving the crud in the sump).

Do you get BMW main dealer for that or indie specialist?

I simply use my BMW dealer, get an agreed price and they do it when the car is there for MOT, etc. Last interim oil service was £155 and they included the 'health check' worth £35.

For me, an independent garage would be a separate 120 mile trip, so not worth considering, spending time and money to save a few quid.

I use the main dealer.

No possible worries about the wrong grade of oil, or 'copy' parts, or having to keep receipts to show that work was done to 'official' BMW standards - it's all there, on the BMW system, showing dates done, work done, etc. if I ever have a warranty claim.

When I had my Boxster I use to get kwik fit to change the oil in between services checking that they used the correct oil plug and filter. Use to only cost about 50 quid and isn't exactly rocket science.

I performed an interim oil & filter service on my 340i. It certainly won't hurt it!

I got my 340i's oil changed mid-Aug as the low mileage i do would have meant correct oil change Aug'18 (according to the car). The dealership I booked it in with said that the oil & micro-filter intermediate service (£273.) can't be recorded on the electronic service 'thingy' so recommended i keep the invoice if i wanted a record..

Can be recorded on the onboard service record.

Tell them to contact Halliwell Jones North wales. They've done it for me at 9k, 27k and just a few weeks ago at 45k.

Those are all intermediates - where the 'service required in xx miles' is NOT updated
