Hi,

I have been asking around recently on different forums & groups etc... if there is anyone in the North West which can do an Alpina TCU (Transmission Control Unit) Remap on my 435d and i cannot seem to find anybody.

I have been speaking to Simon Chodorowski from Bavarian Coding in Southampton.
Simon has done lots of work on many different Bmw's and has an excellent reputation and is highly recommended by a lot of people.
Simon is capable of doing the Alpina Gearbox flash and has carried out the process on a few 35d's so far, Unfortunately for us in the North West he is located in Southampton.

The Alpina Gearbox Remap:
Quicker Shifting/Gear changes.
Smoother Shifting/Gear changes.
Changes sooner to make use of the torque.
Will change to 8th Gear in Sport Mode.
Displays what gear you are in when in D.
It will also slightly increase the MPG.

The Alpina D3/D4 shares the same ZF 8 Speed Gearbox as the 335d,435d etc... however only runs different & better software which is perfectly safe to run on the 335/435d.
If you already have an Engine ECU remap the Alpina Gearbox Remap will not affect the Engine ECU remap in any way.

So I will be hosting a meet on Saturday 21st October.
I am looking for maximum of 10 ish cars (335d,435d etc...) altogether including myself to attend to make it worthwhile for Simon to travel from Southampton.

The location will be at my house located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. Postcode: OL11
Only 5 minutes off Junction 19 or Junction 20 on the M62.

It is a Private road off the main road with no passing traffic under several cctv cameras. I can fit approx 7 cars on the driveway and there is space for a few more just meters away which will be in sight and parked in a safe place.
Being an owner of a Fish & Chip Shop i can supply some hot pie & peas and Hot or cold drinks too free of charge of course.

There is an electricity point on the driveway for Simon to use to carry out the process.

At the moment this is for 35d's only, however if numbers are low ill speak to Simon and he can arrange for Alpina Flashes on others & Coding, Map updates etc...

The process of the Alpina Gearbox Remap will be
Standard check over
Alpina Gearbox Remap
Diagnostics
Test drive
Finally another diagnostic to double check everything is in perfect working order.

For 1 car it should take approximately 30-40 Minutes.

The cost: £90 per car.

1. Rick Miles 2013 F30 335d Xdrive 8:30 AM
2. Richard Torr 2016 F32 435d Xdrive 9:30 AM
3. Will Drayson 2016 F30 335d Xdrive 10:15 AM
4. Sully 2014 F30 335d Xdrive 11:00 AM
5. Host 2015 F36 435d Xdrive 11:45 AM
6. Mark 2013 F30 335d Xdrive 12:30 PM
7. Free Space 13:15
8. Mark Wells 2016 F30 335d Xdrive 13:50
9. John Grierson 2015 F32 435d Xdrive 14:30

I think i have just about covered everything. If anybody has any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
If you are up for it please list your name, year of car, & Model (3,4 series) And i will add you to the list.
Cheers

Only 335d's? What about 340i owners? (Or any other engine with a ZF gearbox).

At the moment it's only the 35ds sorry. The Wlpina map for the 40i is still in development with Simon.

I thought the alpina gearbox had different internals to cope with the additional power but checking its 700nm for the d3, 350hp so maybe not.

What's the process, is this plug in and recode or piggy back the chip etc?

The other more important question is, does any data exist showing real world gains using the flash?

No it will not invalidate Bmw Warranty however if any updates are made by BMW to the ECU all codings and Alpina flash will be put back to standard. Just ask Bmw and write a note in the car not to do any updates etc... when it goes into Bmw.

I will let you know next week sometime about the 30d.

Not sure about any real world gains however i can only imagine it making the car accelerate faster looking at the benefits. I think its plug in and flash the TCU (Transmission Control Unit).

Hope this helps

Indeed, but it does look like both 330d and 335d boxes have the same ratios (no idea how similar the boxes are beyond that).

However, the Alpina D3 does have different ratios ...... certainly for 7th and 8th as well as the final drive ratio. I'd be wary of this flash upgrade as it doesn't seem to be the same box as the 3 series .......

Regarding the 330d I will not know if this is possible untill next week. I will keep the thread updated. I am located in Norden in Rochdale.
Simon who is doing the coding said it will not affect the warranty. However if you are concerned about it still you are probably best avoiding it.

Regarding the date it will be a Saturday or a Sunday after 15th October.

Interesting a longer final drive generally gives a higher top speed, and will sit slightly lower in revs I wonder if they did this to take advantage of the spread of torque. A lot of petrol cars are 3.7 or 3.9

Is it just me or do 7th and 8th look the same ratio? - I can't see the row titles.

Done a bit of reading and some have mentioned build date and istep version could be an issue but didn?t say exactly how, I am guessing it affects the ability to apply the flash.
Will Simon be downloading a copy of the original flash files or make them available if there is a need to go back original?
Not seen you motor around considering it?s bright yellow have family near the garage at the mini round about and up that way fairly often.
Is there anyone on the forum who has had this done to hear some feedback

Sorry yes, you are correct. 7th and 8th are the same as stock but the final drive appears to be different.
