Android use with Spotify

Can anyone now confirm if Android and Spotify now works via the USB cable as iOS does? Same multi function controls on the steering wheel etc? I read somewhere it did but can?t find the confirmation.

It doesn't work fully for me, bluetooth only and next/previous track is the only option I can see - I'd like to get it working if it is possible.

have you tried tidal streaming? better quality than spotify.

Android Spoitfy does work in the same manner as iOS however it only works via bluetooth and you must have iDrive 5 or 6 - it's a bit of a faff to get working but it does work and the app can be controlled via the screen & idrive controller.

How do you check which version of Idrive I have?

I have this on the IDrive 6. There's a Spotify app icon within the ConnecteDrive apps screen.

I can happily confirm that my brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 works fine on my iD5 system.

Spotify is fully functional, and to my surprise I see all tracks on both the head unit and on my HUD !!

This is improved functionality over my iPhone 5s.

Although, when scrolling through the playlist tracks and selecting a track the system played the track above/below the actual one I wanted to hear!

Weird. I'll have another play over next few days as only got phone on Friday

Bluetooth only as I have flash drive connected to armrest usb 24/7!!

And yes, it all works as expected

On a few occations I don't get the spotify app but most of the time it's ok if the Connected is running before I start.
Any idea how to remove the useless compass? I wish there was a track listing or something but as per comments above, that's a technology step too far even for BMW
Hopefully they will get the budget one day to get past these challenging hurdles

Works for me on ID5. Very simple options though, displays the cover/track pic and you can skip a track, but that's it!
