Made a small boo-boo with the coding

I got my Vgate iCar today, had already bought the Bimmercode app.

Did a few changes, all of which I thought I understood. Everything seems to be according to the changes I had in mind except one.

Now when I start the car, I have to keep my finger pressed on the Engine Start button. Before it was a case of "click" and the car would fire into life, now if I just "click" it won't start unless I keep it depressed until it fully starts up and then I can let go.

Which setting have I inadvertently coded, please? And what should the setting be?

Sounds like something in the FEM module (where you find start without brake/clutch etc).

Either try to chance one of those and re-code or see if you can open the backup and code that.

There was a setting that had "Start without brake" and it was active. I was coding that section and I thought I don't like that idea, so I went into it and clicked on "not active", could that be it?

I'd say yes... it's 'active' in my setup too - but yet it's not 'active'.... very odd.

Give that one a go then.

Ok that worked.

The setting "Start without brake", if it's active it seems to be you just need to "click" the Engine Start button. If it's Not Active, you have to keep the Engine Start button depressed until it starts.

I suppose it's a failsafe mechanism from the engine starting if you mistakenly just press it.

What do people seem to be doing with the Comfort Closing delay? Select it for 1.5 seconds delay, or no delay? I ask because I feel it's a good idea to have a delay if you are using the comfort access to close open windows, but that then relates to having to keep the "lock" button on the keyfob pressed when you lock the car to allow the folding mirrors to close inwards.

If there was a way to separate the timing for Comfort Access closing the windows and folding the mirrors, that would be cool.

I noticed this too, this option seems inverted to me. When start without brake was NOT active on my F31, it started behaving like the OP mentioned. I had to code start without brake ACTIVE to regain the original behaviour, which seemed arse about face to me. And gave me a real panic when the car wouldn€™t start after coding!!

I have comfort closing set at 0.5 seconds, works much better than 1.5 and gives you the option of folding the mirrors on locking. Not found an option to separate the mirrors and windows .

CraigJ Is that with iCarly? BimmerCOde only gives an option for 1.5 seconds, or no delay.

Oh, I managed to enable all the video codecs, so now the videos work fine

I enabled it, but didn't get a chance to try it out.

Ive coded the close tailgate from button by the OBD port and it works fine.

It's quite a handy little thing to have.

Now who will be the bravest and play with the expert mode?

Sturrock Hehe, I suppose that is an option. I'm surprised there isn't one already for Bimmercode? Given how many people already use it?

Danny Fireblade There doesn't seem to be an expert mode in Bimmercode?

I think the android version doesn't have one, but the IOS version definitely does, as I clicked on it, then realised my german is wank, and left that side alone

Sturrock I think they best way is just get stuck in. I went in blind but most of it is self explanatory. And the best thing is you can reverse anything.

I use esys for coding, it has a lot more options!

Damnit, does that mean I have to buy more things for the car?

What's involved with the esys? Hardware, software?

Just been playing around a bit more and changing anything to do with the Instrument Cluster then resets your trip and average fuel consumption...which is a bit annoying.

Esys software is available free and you need a standard network cable and obd adapter ( about £5 from Amazon ) plus a windows laptop. You also need some spare time to learn how it works , i watched youtube video . You may be able to code the mirrors with the expert mode on your app .

Yeh I found that too Grant, but then I did all my coding for the Instrument Cluster in the one go, so it's a one time thing which isn't too bad.
