Tire installed backwards

So I had a nail in my tire. I get it repaired, Im watching the guy like a hawk because Im super paranoid about them messing up my wheel (20" iforged). The guy is doing an incredible job, he has gloves on and it takes him 1.5 hours to do the job.

So he is all done, I tip him big, get in the car and drive off only to have my DSC light go off immediately. The car can not accelerate. I jump out and look closely at the tire and he has it on backwards, the inner is on the outside.

Guess you weren't watching close enough?

Time for a quick trip back to the shop... Get that thing on there correctly.

Nothing special to see, you wouldnt even recognize its on backwards unless you saw the tire and saw the words INNER on the side

Honestly 1clean I rather not say cause I know your from the area. This place does good work and it was an honest mistake. I didnt get more than 50 yards before I turned around and told them about the mistake. They fixed it immediately

I was amazed the car new something was wrong immediately. How it set it off I dont know. The car road totally fine.

I had a friend with an old e46 that ran a tire backwards for months and never knew

I don't think there is a likely causal relationship between the TPMS and the Tire being ass-backwards...

BUT I'll bet if it's backwards it's likely incorrectly inflated maybe? I dunno.... There's no mechanism that would allow the TPMS to recognize an improperly installed tire, not unless it's loosing pressure anyway. TPMS is pretty dumb, pressure only.

The TPMS did not detect that your tire was backwards at all. I think it was either inflated wrong or needs to restart the TPMSor the backward tire just didn't give enough traction.
