Hyundai i30N Hot Hatch reviews: the Golf GTI should be worried, very worried.

Below are enthusiastic reviews from very serious car magazines about the new Hyundai (yes Hyundai) hot hatch, the i30 N. It will compete directly with the Golf GTI and the likes in Europe and Australia.

There is a BMW connection as the head of Hyundai N division is none other than Albert Biermann, Former VP Engineering of BMW's M Division. Could this be the final piece of the puzzle for the Hyundai group to make it a contender against the German brands, especially VW?

The 1st piece of the puzzle happened when they poached poaching Peter Schreyer, the father of the original Audi TT from Audi in 2002. Schreyer basically reinvented Kia, then Hyundai with Audi-esque designs and quality perception. Now with an engine and chassis man on board they seem to have reached the pinnacle of the auto world: the German brands.

You can read Albert Biermann very interesting interview here about how German manufacturers have lost their way with too much technology: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1426613

Looks promising. Not really a fan of the N branding, though. Too knock-offy.

Agree that the N is a not too subtle reference to M...
