The grey inserts under the fog lights are not there - did they mention if this car was a test mule or similar?

First thing that caught my eye as well, strike (Palbay's earlier photo from 16 Jul 2017 attached for comparison). Maybe this was one of the earlier ones off the line for Mgmt use? Also is the first time I noticed that the US must be getting the yellow side light by the right front wheel as well. Not sure why I hadn't picked up on that while building one on the new US website.

Congratulations on your tour, Palbay, and thanks for sharing.

Hope color matching side mirrors will be available. I had that silver or whatever they call it on my M235i and didnt care for it much.

Interior not looking as upscale as I had hoped if I am being honest. Wonder if that's Dakota?

Maybe an upgrade in a richer color and step-up in leather quality will sexy it up? I'm coming from F'10 535 with Oyster Nappa. It probably wont be as luxurious a finish - but am hoping it's closer than what I see now.

Those must be 21's?

Yup -- I thought the same, but wasn't sure. Maybe angle of pix? Maybe that steering wheel shortage is true? Zero chance I'd plunk $$ down yet without assurance (in writing) from the dealer thats what I'd be getting

All Prototypes/Test Cars have Serial Number stickers....No stickers...so I would assume Full Series Production Model. Thanks. Palbay

Nope, not an angle issue. You can easily tell by the shape of the airbag, and lack of “seams”on it.

It’s vernasca leather. Nobody really knows wtf that is yet. I tend to go for the richer colors with wood trim, the aluminum trims just kind of blend in to me. I saw a 5 series with the Cove Matte trim they offer on the new X3 and that wood looks nice. I think this would look much better in person, because the silver trim I supposed to have an interesting, modern texture that isn’t really coming through in photos.

The exterior pictures are confusing.

You have what seems to be a G01 X3 30i with an M-Sport front with M Performance M40i 21" 718M wheels and M Performance M40i badge and exhaust at the rear.

Steering wheel on the interior is clearly a Sport Steering Wheel and not a M-Sport Steering Wheel.

What a mess huh?

All these years the one thing that's been puzzling to me about spy photographers is why do they never try to get the VIN number? All these answers would've been answered now.

I agree with those pictures. I keep thinking that a dark oak wood with black interior would make it look more upscale. That combo they got there just makes the trim blend into the leather.

Anyway, the knock on the X3 earlier on was that the inside didn't look luxurious enough so they went and added a lot more wood trimmings but then when I look at the 2018 X3, it looks like they scaled back on the wood trimmings, unless I'm just not seeing the whole picture.

The VINs by the windshield are blocked off. If you can get them to pop the hood, you could get a shot, that's the only way I could get the VIN off the Carbon Black M Performance one in Frankfurt.

Oh great, so we have to spend $500 on an OEM M steering wheel and have a dealer install it. Splendid.

Whoa. I wasn't paying much attention to the chatter about the steering wheel in the other threads, but this is seriously an issue. The build your own site is showing the standard wheel as well.

Tend to agree with the use of wood rather than a metal-type trim accent but that will be personal preference. Having enjoyed wood-working some over the years I always lean towards wood. And we're going to go with the grey poplar for our Vernasca black interior to stay with the darker tint as well (once again, personal preference).

I wasn't sure about the use of wood in the G01 c/w previous versions, so took a few pictures of our 2012 X3 35i and placed them together. Although they did change where it goes, overall looks to be about the same amount of Wood surface area used, give or take.

Driver door sill.

Often I see photos of cars on transport - it that case, the location of the rear license plate.
