Help!! DTC keeps activating!
I just switched from runflats to conti extreme contacts and my DTC keeps coming on. Did the TPMS reset several times but it still comes on, especially in sweeping curves. Running stock wheels, so not sure what to do. I've got the staggered xi setup.

What do you mean, your DTC keeps coming on?

Something is making the car think that one of the wheels is slipping or moving at a slower speed than the rest of the car...
Check tire pressure. If tires are unidirectional, check to ensure tires are installed correctly (outside indeed on the outside).... Hmmm.... |

Sounds like perhaps your tire pressure is really freaking low??? Call me nuts but when your Traction Control keeps intervening and you're busy resetting the TPMS that maybe, just maybe there's a freaking connection?
Just a thought...

See if the tread is going the right direction, tire pressure, and if the button is pressed from the inside..

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I triple checked the tire pressure and TPMS and the DTC kicked in while going 60 mph. The tires look to be mounted properly in terms of rotation markers on sidewalls. Only thing I can think is the tires may be defective?

Just a quick follow-up to my DTC error problem. Did some adjustments to the tire pressure and finally got the TPMS system to not activate the DTC as much, but it did annoyingly still kick in even when running the recommended tire pressure on the inner door jamb. It was the worst when running 4 psi higher than recommended or 2 psi less than recommended. The front tires also had a weird, "squirrely" feeling in turns. The scariest issue was losing throttle response on I-5 in fast-moving, busy traffic.
The TPMS sensors upon inspection were fine. I think there may have been something wrong with the tires. Regardless, I swapped them out with Goodyear Eagle F1s and all TPMS and ride issues have disappeared. Many thanks to all who offered helpful advice! |

What size tires did you mount (F & R).
If the diameter of your front vs rear is > 0.8%, it may result in DTC issues (as well as possible issues with the AWD system). If the tires are all the same size, unless there's a massive difference in tire pressure (F vs R) you shouldn't have any DTC issues *as long as you've reset your TPMS* Seeing how you no longer have issues after changing the tires, I'd expect the tires were out of spec (wrong size).

Good morning!
I have the stock 161 rims. I replaced the stock runflat Potenzas with the exact same size non-runflat Conti ExtremeContacts. I also reset the TPMS system with each change in tire pressure. I find it odd that a tire that others have used with no issues would cause DTC errors so consistently. That's why I believe it must have been a manufacturing issue with the tires that I happened to get. |
