Changing ASD sound on 2017 model?

Hi,
I have been reading a lot about the inability to change the engine sound of the ASD modules with newer firmware versions of the ASD module.
Is it a fact or speculation?
The reason I ask is that I have an F30 330i with 29th of September 2017 as build date, so I would expect it to have the most current firmware.
I have however successfully changed engine sound from B48B20 to B58B30, and the change is quite noticeable.

I am just curious whether BMW has changed the behaviour of the ASD firmware back, or if my quite new BMW does not have current firmware.

I've tired changing it on my Sept 2017 build F36 435D and changing to any other model or engine turns ASD off. Only thing that seems to make any difference is turning up the volume(power class) but even that isn't that noticeable and it seems louder when i make the change then gets quieter again after a few runs. I've bought a cheap pre LCI ASD module to see if that allows me to do it, it's quite easy to get to in the F36

Any newer vehicle, especially more recent firmware, prevent customization beyond turning off ASD. Either purchase the real thing, or disable fake sound; those are your options.

Do you know that from testing it yourself?

It seems you are right.
Although when I coded it, with the engine running, it was working fine.
But when I started the car this morning the ASD was silent.
ASD off will also work just fine for me, I just didn't like the ASD generated B48B20 sound, the B58B30 sound was better, but no ASD will work.

As for purchasing the real thing, a 340i costs the equivalent of 35.000 USD extra over the 330i in Denmark due to taxes, so I think I will stick with my 330i with ASD off
