CAR Magazine has posted their speculations on the next generation G80 M3. Here are the highlights:
S58 engine
Power output will equal the M4 GTS (493 HP / 442 LB-FT)
8 Speed automatic (no DCT)
If manual transmission survives, will only be for rear-drive models
Water injection system from the GTS
Optional on-demand all-wheel drive
48-volt mild hybrid system
Electrically spooled turbochargers
Coasting mode in eco setting
Start/stop system will cut engine earlier
Increased use of aluminum and composite materials
50:50 weight distribution
Improved torsional stiffness
Reduced weight
Three types of seats offered: carbon fiber buckets, conventional sports seats, fully adjustable comfort seats
*No* switchable anti-roll bars, air suspension, rear-wheel steering or active aerodynamics
Future G82 M4 GTS expected
G83 M4 convertible gets fabric top
iD7 iDrive system features three interactive displays
It's still early yet and the G82 M3 / G82 M4 isn't due for a few more years, so read current speculation with a grain of salt, and of course things are always subject to change even if true today. But, there's certainly enough things on this list which are more than likely to be included in the next gen M3 and M4.

I really doubt the initial S58 will be rated higher than the 468hp we have seen from the occasional pipeline report.

I wonder where this information comes from

Bosch stated that the water injection technology would be coming to mass market within 3 years when the M4 GTS was released. Just wasn't ready for 'prime time' production then.

No, current 3 is not the size of e60, I believe it is still smaller than e39...:

Good list. I doubt this is the base m3 though. Most likely some features will only be available in CP, CS, and GTS trims.

Renderings are not that exciting though. They have to beat F80 and it will be tough to do...

Interesting concept. But I would kind of be surprised if they went back to the "smiley face" front Bumper for the M. The M-Sport bumpers have really taken that look over.

Why are all these cars continuously growing in size!?

What's CAR Magazine's track record been like in the past when they've reported on future models?

From reading those specs, I'm hoping they're wrong. Half the stuff they have listed is a serious bummer...
