new 19"s cause dsc malfunction?
I put some new 19" m6 on my 2005 325i and when I turn corners sometimes or just out of the blue the dsc malfunction and brake light and dbc and flat tire monitor will turn on. My tires are filled with nitrouscould this be causing this problem or could they be too low? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

flat tire monitor on your car just reads ABS data and compares the rotational speed of all 4 wheels. whether they're nitrogen or air filled shouldn't make a difference.

what are the tire sizes? if your tire sizes arent correct to keep all 4 wheels the same size..they will cause a dsc light during turns due to some wheels turning faster than others(what happens in a turn) your car will think that its slipping when its really not..

Reset the TPMS to be sure.
I have an AWD and I know I have to keep the tire diameters close or the car will chuck a code. Not sure on RWD though, but maybe so. Alot of people run 235f/265r on their 19's. Our vehicles do friggin' watch everything. |

I'm not sure about the answer, but I'm about to run the same setup, 19" 235/265. Putting them on today. If I have the same issues I can promise I'll be back here

this same thing is happening with my CLK. The front tire size is smaller than the rear tire size (in diameter) which causes the revolution sensor to read more revs in the front than in the rear which in turn sets off the dsc code which then dominos into the ABS and the tranny not shifting, because the speedo cuts off. I'd check tire sizes. They have to match exactly in diameter (front to back)!!!

I doubt that it would change the ride. Air is 75+% nitrogen. It may make the tires run cooler if run in the heat for long periods and it may leak out more slowly than air if you have a tire leak, from what I've read. Seems a bit like hocus pocus to me, but I honestly don't know. I have had a service manager at a dealership (Honda) tell me that the inside of the rims don't corrode at all with nitrogen... but I've not seen it at all myself as I've never used nitrogen to fill my tires.

What are your exact tire sizes? I suspect variance in diameters as well. The FTM is very basic to be honest, not at all like the TPMS.

i'm pretty sure this is right on the money. the DSC is not malfunctioning, you just messed around with the wheel diameters incorrectly |
