Initial Noise When Unlocking the Door

When I initially enter the car each day, there is a spaceship-like noise when unlocking the door. However, on subsequent unlockings of the door on the same day, the noise is gone. Is this normal? Just wondering if this is normal as I just noticed this today.

Like the Millenium Falcon jumping to light speed or the USS Enterprise at warp 9.9 ? Just need to know what spaceship we are talking about?

Probably not a spaceship noise, just the initial noise when unlocking the door. May just be the windows, etc.

Yes it is normal. There are secondary systems running and they shut down after some time. Not exactly sure what they all are though.

Actually.. if you hang around your car after unlocking it.. or... if you hang around the vehicle after locking it... you will also hear some whirring and other functions that occur when the vehicle finally goes to " sleep" about 15 minutes later. these are most easily heard in a quiet garage..

Yes, it takes at least 2 intimate moments in the garage to understand.

Our X5 does that too. Scared me the first time I noticed it. Thought we might be beamed somewhere.

This is easily the loudest car I've ever had... when it's off.
