Will the paint peel if i get these rims painted?
I heard that if i get aftermarket rims painted, they will start to peel in about 1-2 years. is that true? I'm thinking of getting these wheels painted gloss black (just the spokes) with a silver/chrome lip cause i'll most likely be getting them tomorrow. They're 19 inch beyern mesh wheels.

It depends on how much road debris will hit your wheels. Painted wheels are good because they doesn't deal with heat like powdercoating so especially for forged wheels...with no heat, it doesn't weaken the structure of the wheel. The con is that painted wheels are easier to chip when rocks and such hit as oppose to powdercoated wheels which are more resistant to things like that.
I've had a set of wheels professionally painted..2 years later on a daily driven car, it's still fine..minus minor chips which is unavoidable. |
